For the 12th consecutive year, Hackensack Meridian JFK EMS has achieved the highest recognition from the American Heart Association for its care of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS), stroke, and STEMI patients. We are proud to announce that we have been awarded the American Heart Association's Mission Lifeline: EMS Gold Target Heart Attack Achievement Award.

Additionally, for the first time in HMH JFK EMS history, we have received the ACC Partners in Care Recognition for our collaboration with partner PCI-capable hospitals. This brings our total of recognitions awarded to HMH JFK EMS to seven.

These accomplishments are made possible solely through the collaborative efforts of our entire team. From the Communications Team's prompt handling of calls and the timely deployment of field units to Basic Life Support (BLS) providers recognizing the need for Advanced Life Support (ALS) and facilitating rapid transport, every role is vital. This also includes Nursing Medical Control coordinating STEMI alerts and consultations, as well as Specialty Care Transport (SCT) for standby services and transport. Our integrated approach with the emergency department and cardiac services partners is a significant achievement for the HMH JFK EMS team.

Great work!

On Monday Evening of this week, Michelle Golba-Norek, MICN, and Kimberly Szilagyi, MICN, were recognized by the Edison Rotary Club as the annual Frontline Heroes for their heroic efforts to help save the life of one of Edison’s Bravest. Earlier this year, this team of advanced life support (ALS) providers responded with our basic life support (BLS) to one of the Edison Fire Department Stations for a member having chest pain. Upon arrival of this ALS team in coordination with our BLS team and firefighters on scene, they provided a rapid assessment to identify that the firefighter was having a heart attack. At which point the ALS and BLS crews loaded the patient into the ambulance for transportation to a local hospital; during transport, the ALS crews provided multiple life-saving interventions and safely delivered the patient to the hopsital, where he underwent a cardiac catheterization. All these actions were completed within 20 minutes of their arrival on scene, resulting in a positive outcome for this patient.

Congratulations on a job well done!

In addition, we would like to also recognize Battalion Chief Kevin O’Grady of the Edison Fire Department for receiving the Frontline Hero Award from the Edison Township Rotary Club for 34+ years of service in Edison Township. Kevin is also a 20+ year Paramedic with HMH EMS.

Congratulations and thank you for your years of service!
