Jewish Renaissance Foundation

Jewish Renaissance Foundation Serving Perth Amboy, Edison and residing communities of Middlesex County.

The Jewish Renaissance Foundation (JRF) was established in 1995 as a faith-based, nonprofit corporation, with offices currently located in Perth Amboy and Edison, New Jersey. In 2010 the JRF received its first federal designation as a Community Action Agency, and in 2015 received its second as a Federally Qualified Health Center. Serving more than 6,000 people in Middlesex County each year, we are

a leader in providing community coordination, emergency services, educational services, food and nutrition, family development, employment and training, and health services.

On Friday, May 29, as we close out May and Community Action Month comes to an end, we have one more celebration left — “I Love Community Action” Selfie Day! 📸

And if there’s one thing the Jewish Renaissance Foundation loves almost as much as serving our community, it’s capturing the moments!

Established in 1995, the JRF proudly serves Middlesex County through programs focused on health, education, family support, food and nutrition, emergency assistance, and economic self-sufficiency. In 2009, JRF was designated as the Community Action Agency for Middlesex County East, serving income-qualified residents in Carteret, Metuchen, Highland Park, Sayreville, Perth Amboy, South Amboy, Edison, and Woodbridge through anti-poverty initiatives funded by the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG). Recognizing the need to address the full spectrum of community wellness, JRF later became a Federally Qualified Health Center in 2015, opening the JRF Community Health Center in Edison in 2016 to provide culturally competent medical, dental, and mental health services to underserved and uninsured residents, regardless of ability to pay.
Today, JRF serves more than 6,000 individuals and families each year, helping make hope happen through innovative programs, compassionate care, dedicated staff, and strong community partnerships.

Community action is about more than services — it’s about people and impact. When our students succeed, when our patients heal, when families receive the support they need, our entire community grows stronger.

So, this week, we proudly gathered our teams, students, patients, and participants to celebrate "I LOVE Community Action" and the incredible people behind the mission. ❤️

Healthy Vision for a Healthy Community 👁️💙

On May 21, the JRF Bayside Family Success Center proudly hosted a community-focused Vision Screening Event in partnership with Optical Academy — because when we take action for our health, we strengthen our entire community.

As May recognizes both Community Action Month and Healthy Vision Month, the Jewish Renaissance Foundation proudly brought these two important initiatives together in a meaningful way.

This year’s Healthy Vision Month theme, “Healthy Lives, Healthy Eyes,” reminds us that caring for our overall wellness also helps protect our vision. From prevention to early detection, access to care matters — and as a Community Action Agency, we are committed to bringing valuable resources directly to the community.
Families joined us for vision screenings and connected with local organizations offering support, services, and helpful information to promote healthier lives for all.

A big shout out to Middlesex College Perth Amboy Center for collaborating with us once again on this event and graciously allowing us to use their space to reach more members of our community.

And a special thank you to our tabling partners who joined us in providing information and resources to attendees, including Horizon NJ Health, JRF's Perth Amboy Alliance for Community (PAAC) Lead Program Initiative, and YMCA Mental Health Outpatient Services.

Serving our community together. 💙

This week we recognize Mental Health Awareness Week — a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health.

Your mind and body are deeply connected. Stress, anxiety, and depression can impact sleep, heart health, and immune function — while caring for your mental well-being can improve energy, focus, and overall quality of life.

At the JRF Community Health Center, we see the strength it takes to keep going. Healing doesn’t always look big — sometimes it’s simply showing up:

“Right now, a ‘good day’ looks like having enough energy to show up, feeling a bit more grounded in my body, and having at least one moment of genuine connection.”

“A good day includes…being with people I love or having free time to do what I wish on my own.”

No matter where you are in your journey, you don’t have to navigate it alone. We offer compassionate, accessible mental health services for our community — with care available for all through our sliding fee scale.
