Rural Kentucky Lost. Representative Amy Neighbors Said No.
For generations, Kentuckians could walk into their local circuit clerk’s office and obtain driver’s license services close to home.
Then the system changed.
Rural residents were left with longer drives, fewer locations, appointment delays, and reduced access to essential government services.
House Bill 162, sponsored by Savannah Maddox, offered an opportunity to restore local driver’s license and REAL ID services through circuit clerks across Kentucky.
Representative Amy Neighbors had a choice.
She could have stood with rural communities, local access, and county-level services.
She chose not to support House Bill 162.
Meanwhile, Max Wise supported legislation aimed at returning driver’s license services closer to the people who rely on them.
The question is simple:
If restoring local services for rural Kentucky wasn’t worth supporting, what is?
The people of Metcalfe County deserve answers.
They deserve representatives who fight to bring services back—not accept their removal.
They deserve leaders who understand that access matters.
Representative Amy Neighbors made her choice.
Voters can make theirs.
