Last Saturday, the Mustangs traveled to Central Montcalm to compete in a unique event where athletes raced co-ed by grade level. The top 10 finishers for each gender in every race brought home a medal, and our Mustangs earned plenty of hardware.

On the girls' side, Ryann Ball placed second in the Senior Race. Saralynn Shelley finished fourth, and Kirstyn Cummings followed in sixth in the Junior Race. Katie Shick finished seventh in the Sophomore Race, and Brooklyn Porter finished second in the Freshman Race.

On the boys' side, Bryce Willis finished third in the Senior Race. Kenneth Graham, James Rodriguez, and Joe Silverthorn finished fifth, sixth, and seventh, respectively, in the Junior Race. Callen Eldred finished second, followed by Colton Eldred in fourth, Mateo San Jose Diaz in sixth, and Michael Ockert in eighth in the Sophomore Race. Colton set a new PR, breaking his time from last year by almost three minutes. Marshall Preston and Lucas Rodriguez finished second and third in the Freshman Race.

The Mustangs compete again this Friday at the Oiler XC Invite in Mt. Pleasant.

That little girl on the left just hung up her book bag for the last time. She probably didn’t run around the playground telling everyone she wanted to be a superintendent when she grew up. Still, one thing’s for certain, I am glad she made Montabella her home as our SUPERintendent!

Congratulations Shelly, you are officially retired!

We'll miss so many things.
Your snow day videos
Your calm rational thinking
Your dedication to EVERY Mustang
Your support
Your sacrifice
Your Mustang Pride

Most of all, we will miss YOU!

You have sacrificed so much for the sake of Montabella. You have always put us first, without hesitation! You made tough calls that didn’t always make people happy, but you did it with consideration and respect.

We have a beautiful campus that continues to grow and improve because of your hard work and dedication. For so many years, this community trusted you to lead us, and you didn’t just meet those expectations - you far exceeded them.

The legacy you leave is an incredible one! Adventure awaits, and you deserve it! As excited as we are for you, there’s no denying one thing - you have some big shoes to fill!

Thank you for everything you have done for Montabella, for our students, staff, community - for EVERY Mustang!

Once a Mustang, ALWAYS a Mustang!

It's Feel Good Friday....and we are proud of our Mustang Boys who trounced Martin at the football game last night...a win that was energizing! If you happened to get pictures of the win, we would love to see them. As we wrap up the 2nd week of school, Mrs. Dawson's Kindergarten Class had a visit from Superintendent Alvesteffer, who read them a story about a bad dog that turned into a good dog.

These boys have been working hard preparing for this rematch! Good luck, Mustangs!

On Saturday, August 15, the ladies in the Delamater family took the opportunity to celebrate Mike Delamater. Mike recently passed away in October 2025. He held one of the longest standing records at Montabella, holding the long jump record from 1976 until it was broken earlier this year by James Rodriguez. While records "are made to be broken," this one stood for 50 years. Thank you to Nicole, Jenny, Karen, Melissa, and Christa for taking the time to recognize your dad before the record board is updated. The Delatmater family has made numerous contributions to Montabella through the years and we appreciate all you have done.
