For everyone attending Edmundson Fall Fest this weekend, please be aware of the following event safety and security rules:
🚫 NO WEAPONS ARE PERMITTED INSIDE THE PARK
This includes, but is not limited to:
• Fi****ms
• Knives
• Toy guns
• Water guns
• Orbi guns
• Any other item that may reasonably be considered a weapon
🎒 CLEAR BAGS ONLY
• Only clear bags will be permitted inside the park.
• All bags are subject to search prior to entry.
🚫 PROHIBITED WEAPONS
Any person attempting to enter the park with a prohibited weapon will be denied entry, instructed to leave the property, and banned from the event.

What a great weekend at the 6th Annual Cops vs Kids home run derby. Even though Officer Yim did not bring home the trophy, he had some great swings and put on a show for the fans! What a great turnout of support by our Alderman, family, friends, residents and fellow police officers.

At tonight’s Board Meeting, Chief Ansell presented Detective Corporal Dave Buehrle with a Certificate of Commendation for his extraordinary work during a complex s*x trafficking investigation.

In May 2025, Edmundson Officers responded to an overdose at the Drury Inn, where a 26-year-old female was tragically found deceased. The initial investigation indicated the victim was likely involved in prostitution, and the room was rented under the name of an absent male. Detective Corporal Buehrle was assigned to the case.

For the next 14 months, Detective Corporal Buehrle conducted numerous interviews and executed multiple search warrants and subpoenas. His meticulous work included a massive review of text messages, photographs, videos, and hundreds of bank and phone records.

In July 2026, Detective Corporal Buehrle presented his findings to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri. A federal indictment was subsequently returned against Jared Anders, 30, of Sparta, Illinois, charging him with:

1️⃣ S*x Trafficking
2️⃣ Use of Interstate Facilities to Promote Prostitution
3️⃣ Use of Facilities in Interstate Commerce with Intent to Distribute Prostitution Proceeds

Beyond his investigative excellence, Detective Corporal Buehrle showed tremendous compassion. He located the victim's out-of-state parents and maintained constant contact, providing updates, support, and encouragement during an incredibly difficult time.

Last week, U.S. Marshals arrested Anders in Sparta, Illinois. During the arrest, local officers discovered large quantities of he**in, methamphetamine, steroids, and fentanyl, along with two handguns at Anders home. Anders, a convicted felon, is legally banned from possessing fi****ms.

Following the arrest, Illinois law enforcement officials contacted Detective Corporal Buehrle to thank him. His exhaustive work not only secured federal charges for his original case but also provided Illinois law enforcement with the critical intelligence needed to take down a major drug dealer in their own community.
Anders is currently being held in federal custody without bond.

We commend Detective Corporal Buehrle for his dedication, perseverance, and commitment to justice.

EDMUNDSON POLICE INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN FEDERAL INDICTMENT

In May 2025, Edmundson Police Officers were dispatched to the Drury Inn, located at 10490 Natural Bridge Road, regarding a reported overdose. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 26-year-old female deceased inside a rented hotel room. The death was determined to be the result of an apparent drug overdose.

During the initial investigation, officers developed information indicating that the victim may have been involved in prostitution and that the hotel room had been rented in the name of a male who was not present at the time officers arrived.

Detective Corporal Dave Buehrle was assigned to conduct the investigation. Over the following year and two months, Detective Corporal Buehrle conducted numerous interviews and executed multiple search warrants and subpoenas for records. His investigation required an extensive and meticulous review of text messages, hundreds of bank and telephone records, photographs, videos, and other evidence.

In July 2026, Detective Corporal Buehrle presented the completed investigation to Assistant United States Attorney Jillian Anderson of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri.

As a result of the extensive investigation, a federal indictment was returned against 30 year old Jared Anders of Sparta, Illinois. The indictment charges Anders with three felony offenses:

S*x Trafficking
Use of Interstate Facilities to Promote Prostitution
Use of Facilities in Interstate Commerce with Intent to Distribute Prostitution Proceeds

The Edmundson Police Department commends Detective Corporal Buehrle for his dedication, persistence, and thorough investigative work throughout this lengthy and complex investigation. His commitment to following the evidence and pursuing justice ultimately contributed to the successful conclusion of the investigation and the federal prosecution of this case.

It is important to note that an indictment is merely a formal charge and is not evidence of guilt. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Jared Anders was indicted on three felonies: s*x trafficking, use of interstate commerce with intent to distribute prostitution and use of interstate facilities to promote prostitution.

Save the date! On Saturday, August 29th, come on out to ABC ballpark in St. Ann. The Edmundson Police Department will once again be participating this year in the 6th annual Cops VS Kids Home Run Derby put on by St. Louis Youth Sports Outreach. This organization raises money to make sure any kid who wants to play a sport is afforded that opportunity. This is a fun event for a great cause. Bring the whole family. The parade starts at 4pm and the HR derby will begin at approximately 5:30pm.

This year Edmundson's own, Officer James Yim, will be participating in the HR derby! Wish him luck!
