Edwards Air Force Base Driver Speeding & Privelege Suspension Tracker

The 412th Security Forces Squadron issued 6 speeding citations and processed 2 new base driving suspensions Monday, 28 December 2015 through Sunday, 03 January 2016.

There are currently 20 drivers whose base-driving priveleges are suspended (total).

Per AFI 31-219 and EAFBI 31-218, a DD Form 1408, Armed Forces Traffic Ticket (no fine) is issued to military members. Military members receiving 1408s are subject to Uniform Code of Military Justice action. A U.S. District Court Violation Notice (USDCVN) (a fine) is issued to all civilians, dependents, and retirees. If issued a USDCVN, violators may be required to be present at Magistrate Court in Bakersfield, California, receive traffic violation points against their state-issued driver's license, and potentially receive suspension of on-base driving priveleges.

I'm not typically one for New Year's resolutions, but maybe we can all help each other with one very important one: let's help foster a "Culture of Safety" this year at Edwards AFB.

We here at your friendly, neighborhood SFS have had to respond to and enforce many unpleasant situations this past year that involved safety mishaps and violations of a very unsafe nature.

We need your help in the community if we're going to turn things around for the better. Know the safety and traffic regulations and help your friends know them. Be a conscientious and patient motorist. Report suspicious, illegal, and unsafe behavior that you may witness on base by calling 277-3340 (it doesn't matter your affliation, you can report it!). Like this page, and get your friends and colleagues to like it! Call this office's phone number or leave a PM on the page if you have a question about law enforcement on EAFB. Let's make this New Year's resolution happen, and make Edwards a safer, more pleasant place to live and work.

HEY! GET A DD! DO IT!

The holiday season is a time of year when people gather with friends, colleagues and family to enjoy time together and celebrate. Often these social events include alcohol. A driver's license mixed with a few alcoholic beverages can be dangerous. No one intends for alcohol-impaired

Traffic Safety Reminder: West Rosamond Construction Zone.

The 412th Security Forces Squadron has received numerous complaints from
base populace of continued unsafe driving practices, rude behavior, and outright dangerous actions in and outside of the construction zone on West Rosamond Blvd. Remember, the construction zone speed limit has been reduced to 45mph, which is fully enforceable. Any motorist stopped for speeding or any other unsafe behavior in the construction zone will face heavier fines, to include double fines, and be subject to immediate suspension of their base driving privileges. These fines can reach upwards of $400.
Extreme unsafe behavior can also subject the violator to immediate
apprehension and vehicle impoundment at the discretion of the patrol
officer. Most citations issued in the zone will also include a reckless
driving charge, which carries with it a mandatory appearance in the Kern
County Magistrate Court held in Bakersfield in addition to apprehension and
suspension actions.

The 412th SFS is asking that all motorists use common courtesy and attention
to detail while
navigating through this corridor. Unsafe driving awareness could possibly
lead to flared tempers, which leads to road rage and traffic accidents. If a traffic accident does occur out in the constructions zone on West Rosamond Blvd, the base would be dealing with a complete shutdown of the road, not
just a traffic-restricted construction zone. We would like all motorists
traveling on Edwards AFB roadways to stay safe. So plan ahead, SLOW DOWN, arrive alive and enjoy this Holiday Season.
