During the evening of Saturday, February 8, 2025, Bicknell Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 921 Charles St. Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy fire at the rear of the structure and operations were further complicated by strong wind gusts forcing the fire throughout the structure. Thankfully, the occupants of the home were able to escape after being alerted to the fire by the family dog. As a result of this fire, the occupants are in need of several clothing items as listed below. Clothing donations can be delivered to the Bicknell Fire Dept at 210 E 1st St during our weekly meeting on Tuesday Feb 11 at 7:00 PM or messaging our page for other arrangements.

Bicknell Fire Department would like to thank Vigo Township FD, Freelandville FD, and Washington Twp FD for mutual aid support as well as Good Samaritan EMS, Knox County Central Dispatch, and Knox County Sheriff Department for their assistance.

Obey the burn ban. That was the request to the public from the Knox County Commissioners as they reinstated it for another 7 days. The ban was first decreed a little over 10 days ago. Knox County

The Halloween Party at the Edwardsport Volunteer Fire Department will be held Oct 29th. The previous post said Oct 27 but that was a accident. This is the correct date. Thank you and hope to see everybody!!!

Edwardsport Vol Fire Department received sad news this morning. Edwardsport longest standing member passed away this morning in a UTV accident. Charlie Hunt joined EVFD in 1979. Thank you Charlie for all that you did for EVFD and the Edwardsport community. Please keep the Hunt family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this incredible tough time.

A $3,500 Duke Energy Foundation check was presented to members of the Edwardsport Volunteer Fire Department. The funds will be used to purchase a turnout gear washer that complies with the National Fire Protection Agency standards for care and maintenance of firefighting equipment. Decontaminating turnout gear after use is important in reducing firefighter exposure to harmful chemicals and carcinogens. From the Edwardsport Volunteer Fire Department we want to say thank you so much for this.
