It was great stopping by Lewis and Clark Community College's Resource & Wellness Fair earlier this week!

I enjoyed visiting with students, staff and community organizations and learning more about the resources available to support people throughout our area.

I really enjoyed spending time with Alton FCCLA students this week!

We talked about how I got into public service, what serving in the State Senate is really like and some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

FCCLA gives students such a great opportunity to build confidence, learn leadership skills and start thinking about the careers and paths ahead of them. I loved hearing what these students are interested in and the goals they’re already working toward.

It was a great morning at Southwestern Illinois College's Manufacturing Day with State Representative Amy Elik!

Manufacturing has long been an important part of the Metro East, and it was great to see students getting a firsthand look at the careers available right here in our region.

From welding and machining to robotics and other advanced technology, these are skills that can lead to good careers and help keep our local economy moving.

I recently had the honor of attending the American Legion Post 199 9/11 remembrance ceremony in Edwardsville alongside many of our area’s first responders.

It was an incredibly moving evening and a powerful reminder of the lives lost, the heroes who ran toward danger and the first responders who continue to serve our communities every day.

Twenty five years later, we remember. We honor. And we will never forget.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Thelma Terrace in Wood River with State Representative Amy Elik.

We enjoyed spending time with the individuals who live there, visiting with staff and learning more about the care and support DD Homes provides.

These visits are always a good reminder of how much important work is happening every day in our communities. Thank you to everyone at Thelma Terrace for the warm welcome and for taking the time to show us around.
