Edwardsville Public Works Department will be sweeping curbed streets starting April 1st. You will be notified by door hangers the day prior to sweeping your street . We ask that you park your cars in your driveway or free parking is allowed at the Community Center. Having vehicles off the streets during this time ensures that we are able to remove all debris. This is important to our Stormwater Prevention Plan.

The Kansas deal to attract the Chiefs carries significant downsides for taxpayers. While officials emphasize that no new taxes are required, the state still assumes substantial financial risk if projected revenues fail to materialize, while the team retains most long-term profits. Decades of economic research show that publicly funded stadiums rarely deliver the promised economic growth, often shifting existing spending rather than creating new wealth. Most jobs generated are temporary or low-wage, providing limited lasting benefit to Kansas residents. Perhaps most concerning is the opportunity cost: committing billions in public resources to a stadium limits the state’s ability to invest in core priorities such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure, while the benefits remain unevenly distributed and concentrated around the development area.
