The NAACP Edwardsville Branch was pleased to participate in this year’s Unity Fest! This year’s theme, “OpportUNITY for All,” came to life through inspiring speakers, diverse performances, interfaith prayers, and neighbors coming together in a spirit of unity.

We enjoyed connecting with community members and sharing who we are, what we stand for, and how to get involved with our branch.

Thank you to Unity Fest President Jesse Allen and the entire organizing team for inviting us to be part of this celebration of culture, connection, and community. Together, we are stronger—one community, one future.

💙💛 Building a More Informed and Inclusive Future—Together!

The NAACP Edwardsville Branch recently brought community members together for an important conversation about data centers and their potential impact on Edwardsville and Madison County.

Thank you to Eric Williams, City Administrator for the City of Edwardsville, for leading an engaging discussion and encouraging thoughtful dialogue and civic participation on an issue that could shape our community’s future.

We were also excited to welcome SIUE students who are chartering members of the SIUE NAACP Chapter! They shared their upcoming initiatives and ways our branch can support their efforts. We look forward to strengthening this partnership and supporting the next generation of leaders and advocates.

Thank you community members, and guests for your participation and commitment to building a more connected, informed, and inclusive community for all.

Together, we continue the work of education, advocacy, and meaningful change. ✊🏽

💙💛 LEARNING. CONNECTING. ADVOCATING. EMPOWERING. 💛💙

The NAACP Edwardsville Branch was proud to participate in the 89th Annual State Convention this past weekend at the Regency Conference Center in O’Fallon, Illinois!

The conference provided an incredible opportunity to connect with fellow NAACP members, leaders, advocates, and changemakers from across Illinois who share a commitment to advancing justice, equity, and opportunity in our communities.

Throughout the conference, participants engaged in informative sessions addressing critical issues impacting Black and Brown communities, including:

🔹 Health & Wellness
🔹 Economic Development & Empowerment
🔹 Voter Mobilization & Civic Engagement
🔹 Social Policies Affecting Our Communities
🔹 Education, Advocacy & Community Advancement

Our members returned with invaluable information, resources, and strategies that will help strengthen our continued efforts to educate, advocate, empower, and mobilize our community.

We are grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside changemakers from throughout the state and remain committed to turning knowledge into action as we continue the fight for justice, equality, and lasting change.

💙 Stronger Together: One Community, One Future. 💛

🗳️ TODAY IS NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY! 🗳️

The NAACP Edwardsville Branch recognizes National Voter Registration Day — September 15, 2026, a nationwide, nonpartisan effort focused on helping eligible Americans register to vote and make sure their registration information is current.

Your voice matters, and being registered is an important first step in participating in our democracy.

Today is a great opportunity to:

✅ Register to vote if you’re eligible
✅ Check your current voter registration
✅ Update your name or address if needed
✅ Encourage family, friends, neighbors, and young adults to check their registration

Illinois residents can access official voter registration information through the Illinois State Board of Elections.

💙 Empowering the Next Generation of Voters! 💛

Our NAACP Edwardsville Branch 2nd Vice President, Debra Pitts, is on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) helping young people get registered and ready to vote! 🗳️

Voter registration is more than completing a form—it’s an opportunity to ensure every eligible voter can make their voice heard and help shape the future of our community.

We are proud of Vice President Pitts for engaging with students, encouraging civic participation, and inspiring the next generation to embrace the power of their vote.

Your voice matters. Your vote matters. Your future matters.

💙 Stronger Together: One Community, One Future. 💛

Last night, the NAACP Edwardsville Branch hosted an informative and empowering evening as we welcomed our guest speaker, Lisa Mathenia from the Madison County Assessment Office.

Ms. Mathenia provided valuable information about the property tax exemptions available to homeowners, veterans, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities. Her presentation equipped attendees with important resources and knowledge that can make a meaningful difference for individuals and families throughout our community.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Lisa Mathenia for sharing her expertise and commitment to serving our community. We also thank our 1st Vice President Lt. Col. Walter Chase, Chair of our Veterans Affairs & Political Action Committee, for helping make this educational event possible.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our NAACP members and community guests who joined us. Your engagement and participation continue to strengthen our mission of educating, empowering, and advocating for our community.

Together, we are stronger when we unite as one.
