We are very appreciative of Senator Erica Harriss' efforts to secure funding for equipment for our department. Senator Harriss has secured state grant funding for well over a dozen area public safety departments this summer; we're honored (along with our colleagues in the Edwardsville Fire Department) to be among the most recent recipients. We appreciate her commitment to public safety and law enforcement!

I’m proud to have secured $195,000 in state funding for the The City of Edwardsville to support new EMS and public safety equipment for our first responders.

EPD will use remotely-piloted aircraft at the upcoming Edwardsville Rotary Criterium on 8/15/26.

Our drones, operated by trained and certified personnel, will provide an added vantage point to help monitor the event and support personnel on the ground. This allows us to respond quickly to any concerns and helps ensure a safe environment for all in attendance.

We want to be clear—this technology is being used strictly to enhance public safety. We remain committed to protecting the privacy and rights of all attendees, and all drone operations will follow applicable laws and regulations.

Edwardsville Police Join Statewide Labor Day Effort Aimed at Impaired Driving

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Edwardsville Police Department is proud to be one of over 200 law enforcement agencies across Illinois participating in the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High. Get a DUI” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns in the weeks leading up to Labor Day. From August 14 through the early morning hours of Sept. 8, officers will be out in force, focused on stopping impaired driving, enforcing seat belt laws and reducing other dangerous driving behaviors.

“Driving under the influence — whether it’s alcohol, cannabis or any other impairing drug — is not just risky, it’s illegal,” said Lt. Matt Senci. “We’ll be patrolling with zero tolerance for impaired driving,
because our goal is to protect the people of Edwardsville.”

Officers will also be enforcing seat belt laws as part of the “Click It or Ticket” initiative. Buckling up is the most effective way to prevent serious injury or death in a crash. Everyone in the vehicle — front seat or back — should be properly buckled on every trip.

This local effort is part of a larger statewide campaign supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation, which administers the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns with federal highway safety funds. The initiative is reinforced by IDOT’s “It’s Not a Game” media campaign running across radio, TV and digital platforms to highlight the deadly consequences of impaired driving.
