Let's continue to keep the waitlist cleared!

The need for senior nutrition assistance is still there. We get calls weekly about adding more seniors to the program.

It's because of our generous communities that we were able to clear our waitlist earlier this year. Can you help us keep the waitlist clear?

LIHEAP Energy Ed: Spring Energy Saving Tips

Ceiling Fans: Set ceiling fans to circulate air and create a cooling breeze. ❗Bonus savings: Turn them off when you leave the room to avoid wasting energy.

Optimize Thermostat: Adjust your thermostat to a comfortable temperature and consider using a programmable thermostat for automatic adjustments.

Natural Light: Open curtains and blinds during the day to harness natural light and reduce reliance on artificial lighting.

Regular Maintenance: Schedule regular maintenance for your HVAC system, including changing air filters and checking refrigerant levels.

Last week, several CEFS staff attended the Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies Annual Conference in Springfield, IL. Two staff members came home with awards!

Elaine Nuding, WIOA Coordinator in Effingham, received the Outstanding Service Award, and Staceye Horvet, Outreach County Coordinator for Clay County, was recognized for her achievement in the Level-Up Your Advocacy Challenge. Congratulations, Elaine and Staceye!

Do you or someone you know need a scholarship for the upcoming school year? Check out the CSBG Scholarship on our website!

The Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) Scholarship is designed, in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, to supplement the cost of tuition, fees, and program-specific supplies to offset the students’ needs.

An applicant can/plan to attend college, university, or a trade school; in-state or out-of-state; remote, on-ground, or hybrid; and be a part-time or full-time student. This is a competitive scholarship based on income and the interview process. Previous scholarship recipients are eligible to submit an application. All eligible candidates will be interviewed.
