FCSO Makes Arrest in Weekend Murder

FCSO Investigators have made an arrest in the August 28, 2026 shooting death at the Suburban Motel on West Lucas Street in Florence, SC. Tyrik Antwan De’Andre Hicks, age 22 was taken into custody at approximately 5:00 pm today (August 31, 2026) in Florence. Investigators allege that Hicks shot and killed 15 year old Manblessin Brightwell. Brightwell was identified as the victim by Florence County Coroner Keith Von Lutcken earlier today. The investigation into this incident is ongoing .

Hicks will be held at the Florence County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.

FCSO MAKES SEVENTH SUSPECT IN QVC THEFT INVESTIGATION

A seventh suspect has been arrested by FCSO Investigators in connection with a theft investigation. Acting in coordination with Global Security Operations at QVC, FCSO Investigators arrested Alma Londell Easterling and charged her with Breach of Trust With Fraudulent Intent. Easterling is alleged to have fraudulently manipulated return transactions for products she ordered from QVC. Investigators further allege that Easterling conspired with QVC employees to receive over $28,000.00 in refund credit for purchased goods where the goods were not returned.

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are likely.

SUBJECT: Alma Londell Easterling, age 52, of 112 Ellen Street, Bennettsville, SC was arrested by FCSO Investigators on August 31, 2026, and charged with Breach of Trust With Fraudulent Intent (S.C. Code Ann. 16-13-260). See FCSO Booking Website for additional information.

Our Hearts Are With the Columbia Police Department

Sheriff TJ Joye and the men and women of the Florence County Sheriff’s Office extend our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, fellow officers, and loved ones of Columbia Police Officer Christopher DeLong, who was tragically killed in the line of duty today.

We also extend our thoughts and prayers to the Columbia Police officer who was wounded during this incident, and we pray for a full and speedy recovery.

The loss of a law enforcement officer in the line of duty is felt far beyond the walls of their own agency. It is a loss shared by the entire law enforcement family and by the communities we have sworn to serve.

To Officer DeLong’s family and our brothers and sisters at the Columbia Police Department: please know that you do not stand alone. The Florence County Sheriff’s Office stands with you during this incredibly difficult time.

We honor Officer DeLong’s service, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting others.

FCSO MAKES SIXTH SUSPECT IN QVC THEFT INVESTIGATION

FLORENCE, SC: A sixth suspect has been arrested by FCSO Investigators in connection with a theft investigation. Acting in coordination with Global Security Operations at QVC, FCSO Investigators arrested Margaret A. McDonald and charged her with Breach of Trust With Fraudulent Intent. McDonald is alleged to have fraudulently manipulated return transactions for products she ordered from QVC. Investigators further allege that McDonald conspired with QVC employees to receive over $21,000.00 in refund credit for purchased goods where the goods were not returned.

SUBJECT: Margaret A. McDonald, age 49, of 1254 Donna Lane, Bennettsville, SC was arrested by FCSO Investigators on August 28, 2026 and charged with Breach of Trust With Fraudulent Intent (S.C. Code Ann. 16-13-230(A)). See FCSO Booking Website for additional information.

FCSO INVESTIGATORS CRACK EMPLOYEE THEFT RING

Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, working with Global Security Operations at QVC, arrested four former employees who are charged with Breach of Trust With Fraudulent Intent. According to Investigators, the suspects are alleged to have fraudulently manipulated refund credits for purchased goods where the goods were not returned. In total, the amount of fraudulent refunds is estimated at over $58,000.00.

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are likely.

SUBJECT: Jessica Demetric Purvis, age 35, of 112 E. Main Street, Bennettsville, SC was arrested by FCSO Investigators on August 27, 2026 and charged with Breach of Trust With Fraudulent Intent (S.C. Code Ann. 16-13-230(A)). See FCSO Booking Website for additional information.

FCSO MAKES ARREST IN BURGLARY/GRAND LARCENY CASE

Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a suspect in a recent theft of property belonging to Duke Energy on Mechanicsville Highway in Florence, SC. According to Investigators, between the dates of August 10, 2026 and August 25, 2026, Charles Leroy McGee is alleged to have entered the property of Duke Energy and removed approximately $80,000.00 of equipment and material including a boat, reels of copper wire, batteries and other items. The stolen property was located on North Tobin Drive in Florence during the ex*****on of a search warrant. In addition to the stolen property, Investigators further allege that McGee was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine.

McGee is being held at the Florence County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.

SUBJECT: Charles Leroy McGee, Jr., age 30, of 4218 South Irby Street, Florence, SC was arrested by FCSO Investigators on August 25, 2026 and charged with Burglary (3rd degree)(S.C. Code Ann. 16-11-313), Grand Larceny (S.C. Code Ann. 16-13-030(B)), Transportation of Stolen Nonferrous Metals (S.C. UPDATE: This afternoon FCSO Deputies arrived at the scene of a call of a shooting on East McIver Road in Florence, SC and found two individuals deceased, in what Investigators are calling a murder/suicide. Florence County Coroner Keith Von Lutcken has identified the deceased as 39 year old Darnissa Ford and 36 year old Leon Ford, II.

No additional information is available at this time.

FCSO MAKES ARRESTS IN WEEKEND FATAL SHOOTING

FLORENCE, SC: On August 23, 2026 at approximately 2:30 pm Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a shooting with a victim on Vince Circle in Florence, SC. Florence County Coroner Keith Von Lutcken identified the deceased victim as 47-year-old Takisha Johnson.

According to Investigators, Atkins and Mack became involved in a verbal altercation, during which Atkins retrieved a shotgun with the intent of shooting Mack. Investigators further allege that Johnson was attempting to prevent Atkins from leaving the residence with the shotgun when the shotgun discharged, killing Johnson.

SUBJECT: Kigical Montrell Atkins, age 23, of 1010 Poor Farm Road, Effingham, SC was arrested by FCSO Investigators on August 23, 2026 and charged with Murder (S.C. Code Ann. 16-3-10) and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime (S.C. Code Ann. 16-23-490).

SUBJECT: Tristen Antwan Mack, age 19, of 745 Ventura Court, Florence, SC was arrested by FCSO Investigators on August 23, 2026 and charged with Assault & Battery (1st degree) (S.C. Code Ann. 16-3-600(C)(1)).
