Effingham Mayor Mike Schutzbach has officially proclaimed September 17–23, 2026, as Constitution Week.
Mayor Schutzbach joined Ann Crooker St. Clair Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) representatives Ruth Ann Hoffmeister, Paulena Romero, Susan Oliver, and Candace Goodrich to encourage all Effingham residents to reflect on our nation's founding principles and vigilantly safeguard the freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.

The Central Illinois Truck Convoy will be rolling through downtown Effingham this Saturday, August 29th at approximately 1:30 p.m. and we want you there!

Trucks will enter on Route 40, head to Jefferson Avenue, pass through the heart of downtown Effingham, and loop back onto Route 40. Convoying at the Crossroads is about more than trucks - it's for a great cause. Come pack the streets and show your support for Mae's Miracle.

🚛🔥 CONVOY ROUTE & APPROXIMATE TIMES! 🔥🚛

We’ve had SO many people asking where the Convoyin’ At The Crossroads Truck Convoy will be traveling, so here’s the route! 🇺🇸

📍 EFFINGHAM — approximately 1:30 PM
The convoy will enter Effingham on Route 40, then travel to Jefferson Street, through downtown Effingham, and continue to the Y, where it will get back onto Route 40.

📍 TEUTOPOLIS — approximately 1:45–2:00 PM
The convoy will continue on Route 40 into Teutopolis and travel to the 4-way stop.

From there, the trucks will travel south to Route 33, continuing back toward Effingham/Altamont.

🚨 PACK THE STREETS! 🚨

If you want to see these trucks rolling through, get along the route early and be ready! Bring the kids, wave your flags, make some noise, and help us show these drivers just how much our community appreciates them! 🇺🇸🚛❤️

On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the Effingham community came together to dedicate the Fourth Street and Fayette Avenue overpasses in honor of CWO2 Christopher Donaldson and Sgt. Timothy Sayne.

Thank you to all who made this ceremony possible, and especially to the Donaldson and Sayne families for being with us.

Effingham Public Works personnel were recognized today with an IPWMAN Challenge Coin for their response in debris cleanup from the tornado that hit the City of Charleston this past June.

IPWMAN is the Illinois Public Works Mutual Aid Network.
Responding to an IPWMAN activation requires long hours, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work as a team to provide crucial relief to the requesting agency.

Presenting these Challenge Coins was Jeremy Heuerman, Region 9 Board Member of IPWMAN.

Today, Effingham remembers. 🇺🇸

This afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Workman Sports Complex, we'll gather to dedicate the Chief Warrant Officer 2 Christopher Donaldson Memorial Overpass and the Sgt. Timothy Sayne Memorial Overpass, honoring two local U.S. Army soldiers who gave their lives in service to our country. All are welcome.

📢 It'll be a hot one this afternoon, so plan ahead and bring water, an umbrella for shade, and a lawn chair if you're able, as seating will be limited. Handicap parking will be available right next to the ceremony location.

We'll see you there. 🌟
