We are saddened to learn of another line-of-duty death from the Searsmont incident a few weeks ago.

Please continue to keep that entire region in your thoughts.

The Office of State Fire Marshal is saddened to learn of the passing of 76-year-old Wayne Woodbury on Sunday morning June 14, 2026 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Searsmont Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Woodbury was among the many firefighters and emergency responders who responded to the May 15, 2026, fire at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont.

The Office of State Fire Marshal extends its sincere condolences to his family, friends, and the members of the Searsmont Fire Department during this difficult time. The investigation into the Robbins Lumber fire remains ongoing.

It was a busy morning for EFD.

07:17- Medical Emergency, Action transported to WDH Dover.

07:59- Medical Emergency, Action transported to Memorial.

08:23- Medical Emergency for a fall with serious injuries. A helicopter from Lifeflight of Maine was requested to land at Constitution Park, and Center Ossipee Fire was requested to set up the landing zone. Unfortunately, Lifeflight was unable to land at the park due to weather and instead landed at the Freedom Public Safety building. The patient was transferred to the Lifeflight and brought to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

10:11- While at the landing zone, Effingham Fire was requested to respond along with Freedom Fire for a motor vehicle accident in Freedom. Car 1 and Engine 4 responded and assisted at the scene.

It’s supposed to be rainy tonight and tomorrow, so get out of the house and stay dry and warm and go visit Revo Casino and Social House in Conway. Tomorrow is the end our Association partnership timeframe with them, and every dollar counts!
