🚒❤️ EKRON VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT SUPPORTS THE WHAS CRUSADE FOR CHILDREN! ❤️🚒

Our members are out in the community collecting donations for the 2026 WHAS Crusade for Children, helping provide essential equipment, therapy, and services for children with special needs throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

Can't make it to one of our roadblocks or see our firefighters in person? You can still donate online!

Every dollar makes a difference and helps ensure children receive the care and opportunities they deserve.

🚒❤️ TODAY IS THE DAY! ❤️🚒

Ekron Fire & Rescue members will officially begin collecting donations for the WHAS Crusade for Children starting today! Over the next several weeks, you will see our firefighters and volunteers out door-to-door and working roadblocks throughout our community raising money for children with special needs across Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

📍 Our primary roadblock location will be:
KY Hwy 79 & Midway Road

We appreciate the continued support from our amazing community each and every year. Every dollar raised stays local through grants and assistance programs that directly help children and families in our region.

⚠️ PLEASE BE AWARE ⚠️
Unfortunately, there are scammers who may claim to be collecting donations when they are NOT associated with a fire department or the Crusade for Children.

✅ Legitimate collections will have:
• Fire department members present
• Fire apparatus on scene
• Red emergency lights flashing

❌ If someone is asking for donations and you do not see a fire truck or official fire department presence, please do not donate and contact 911 immediately.

Thank you again for supporting the WHAS Crusade for Children and Ekron Fire & Rescue! 🚒🇺🇸

Congratulations are in order!
Firefighter Stephanie Hydo and Firefighter Cordelia Reece have successfully completed their Kentucky Basic I Certification. In the state of Kentucky, it is the required certification for all volunteer firefighters and consists of 115 hours of training in specific subjects.
Firefighter/EMT Robbie Bailey has completed his Kentucky Basic II Certification, which consists of over 300 hours of training and is the required certification for all career firefighters in specific subjects.
These are not easy accomplishments. As an all-volunteer department, achieving these certifications requires tremendous self-motivation, sacrifice, and countless hours of personal time over the course of several years.
We are incredibly proud of all of them for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving our community. Well done!

The Ekron Fire Department would like to extend a huge thank you to Meade County Bank for assisting us in securing a loan to purchase our brand new rescue truck.
They stopped by this evening to see the new vehicle, show their support, and generously provided dinner from Little Dave’s. The brisket was absolutely delicious!
We truly appreciate Meade County Bank’s continued support of our department and the community we proudly serve.

This weekend we had the honor of attending the National Fallen Firefighters Candlelight Service and Memorial. We were there to remember Richard Givan and support his family during this meaningful and emotional time.
Standing among departments from across the nation, we were reminded that the fire service is more than a job—it’s a brotherhood. A bond built on sacrifice, trust, and standing side by side, not only on the fireground, but in moments like these when we come together to honor our own.
Though Richard is no longer with us, his legacy lives on. We will continue to carry his memory forward, united as one family—never forgetting, always honoring. 🚒🖤

Many great things are happening at the Ekron Fire Department, and we’re continuing to move forward in ways that better serve and protect our community.
Today, we proudly had our new gear extractor installed. This high-efficiency washer plays a critical role in removing harmful contaminants from our turnout gear—helping keep our firefighters safer on and off the scene.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Kentucky Fire Commission for providing the resources to make this possible.
A special thank you also goes to Anytime Plumbing for the installation. This was no simple job, and your team handled it professionally from start to finish.
We appreciate your continued support as we work to serve our community at the highest level. 🚒

🚒 Training Day at Ekron Fire Department

Today we had an incredible opportunity to get some hands-on vehicle extrication training right here at the station. Trainings like this are how we continue to grow, sharpen our skills, and stay ready to serve our community when it matters most.
We are committed to doing everything we can as a department to keep our community safe, and days like today make a big impact.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who made this possible:
👏 Chris Wardrip with Wynn Fire & Equipment for coming out, letting us experiment with new tools, and servicing our existing extrication equipment
👏 CPT Caleb Vinton for leading an outstanding and informative class
👏 Abby Lyons with Lyons Photography for capturing the action and helping us share these moments with our community
👏 Assistant Chief Adam Whitford for firing up the grill and cooking burgers & hot dogs for everyone—nothing better than great food to boost morale after a hard day of training!
