(6-30) - El Campo Police are looking for a man involved in a shooting that left an El Campo man dead at a convenience store in south El Campo Sunday…

El Campo Police Department Captain Arnold Terrazas told KULP 106.7 FM & 1390 AM The Texas Legend that just after 4:20 yesterday afternoon, officers were dispatched to The Beverage Wall at 1110 Palacios St. to investigate a shooting.

When police got there, they found a Hispanic male, later identified as 37-year-old Nikko Ray Deases, lying on the ground next to the gas pumps with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and performed life-saving procedures on Deases and then transported him to El Campo Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

Witnesses reported that Deases had been involved in an altercation with a black male, later identified as 32-year-old Brandon Dwayne Stephens from the Rosenberg area. The cause of the argument is not clear.

Terrazas said El Campo investigators have obtained a warrant for Stephens' arrest. If anyone has any information about Stephens’ whereabouts, please contact the El Campo Police Department and ask to speak with Sgt. Stafford at 979-543-5311.

Terrazas said Stephens should be armed and dangerous.
