🚂 HELP US FIND CHARLEY A NEW HOME ❤️
For more than 20 years, Charley the Children's Fair Train brought smiles and laughter to thousands of children at the Imperial County Children's Fair and countless community events.
Charley holds a special place in our history. She was originally purchased through the generosity of the Imperial County Law Enforcement Charity Bowl, and for decades became a beloved tradition for families throughout Imperial County.
Sadly, after many years of service, Charley has reached the end of her time with the Imperial County Child Abuse Prevention Council. She has been decommissioned, and we are no longer able to house, maintain, or use her.
A generous community member has graciously stored Charley on their property for many years, but due to safety concerns, she must now be removed as soon as possible.
We have received estimates of more than $1,000 to haul away the train, trailer, and dispose of the remaining plywood scenery pieces—funds we simply do not have.
Rather than see this piece of Imperial County history scrapped, we're hoping someone in our community might be interested in giving Charley a second life.
Charley will need:
🔧 A new motor
🛠️ Welding repairs
🚂 Fiberglass floor reinforcement
🛞 New tires
🎨 A fresh paint job
She would make a wonderful restoration project for a school, vocational program, service club, museum, nonprofit, or community organization.
We are looking for someone who can:
Donate hauling services to remove the train and trailer.
Take ownership of Charley as a restoration project.
Help dispose of the old plywood cutouts that are no longer usable.
If you, your business, or someone you know can help, please send us a message or contact our office at (760) 353-8300.
If you're unable to help, please share this post. It only takes one person to see it for Charley to begin her next chapter.
Thank you for helping us preserve a small but meaningful piece of Imperial County history. ❤️
