We are so lucky to have Mia as a mentor and role model in our program!! Mia is serving the San Francisco community with host site 826 Valencia and she has the best reasons for doing a service year - “After finishing four years of college, and understanding what I really want to continue engaging with, I know that working within my community is super important. I think about all the people that inspired me as a young person, and I think about the impact that this support had. I feel ready to be a source of support for young students, and I think it would teach me a lot about my future as an educator.” Well said Mia, we couldn’t be happier to have you a part of our cohort!

Meet Isabella who is serving the San Francisco community as a BAYAC AmeriCorps Member. In her words: “Through a year of service with BAYAC AmeriCorps at 826 Valencia, I hope to deepen my experience in youth education and nonprofit work, while supporting students in developing confidence as writers. I want to continue growing my ability to provide individualized instruction and build meaningful relationships with students, especially those from underserved communities.” Grateful to have you as a role model for our Bay Area youth!

Now accepting applications to join our 2026-27 cohort launching in August! Submit and application to serve Bay Area youth in San Francisco or the East Bay regions and be a mentor to students needing a student success coach! Full time positions (40hrs/wk), monthly service stipend, and earn an education award upon completion.

Jack is serving as a Health Educator with the City of Berkeley - Berkeley High School Health Center. We are grateful for his contributions to the development of our young people. He shares about working with his host site this year stating: “My experience as a Health Educator at the Berkeley High School Health Center has been enriching and deeply rewarding. Learning from clinic staff and contributing to the health and well-being of Berkeley High students has been especially meaningful, and I will bring this experience with me as I pursue a career in adolescent research and public health.” We can’t wait to follow his life after AmeriCorps career journey too!

We are pleased to have stellar “Stella” on our team! Stella is serving with our host site Hobbs Academy, a school providing academic instruction, support services, and child care for parenting students, with the Alameda County Office of Education. She brings with her a variety of life experiences that make her a great role model for youth! She states it best as she shares: “This journey of emotional growth has shaped my ability to connect authentically with people from diverse backgrounds and is one of my greatest strengths. It has taught me to approach new environments with empathy, openness, and adaptability. As a BAYAC AmeriCorps member, I look forward to applying these qualities by supporting youth in navigating their own identities, challenges, and goals, while learning from the communities I serve.” Proud to have you a part of our cohort Stella!

We are happy to have Maiya join our cohort of amazing role models serving with Huckleberry Youth Programs in SF! She shares that she is excited to work with BAYAC to continue to find creative solutions in working with students, integrate her experiences with the older generation, and extend herself through service to the youth of the new generation. Maiya hopes to motivate youth to express themselves and their emotions in healthy ways. Welcome Maiya!

Nour has been serving students in San Francisco as a BAYAC Member placed with 826 Valencia. Through her AmeriCorps journey she looks forward to gaining more skills as an educator and to exploring new strategies for the teaching of language and writing in a non-profit setting. She has always admired 826 Valencia’s programs for instilling in young people a sense of pride in their voices and writing skills. We are thrilled to see her excel there and grow as a leader!
