Our HomeZada team started our company because we, too, had challenges managing our homes. We did not know where the money was going to keep our homes functioning. We did not know what we owned specifically. So we did not know how to document everything in case something potentially bad happened. We did not kno

w what maintenance tasks needed to be completed in order to take care of our homes. And boy, did these tasks add up. Who’s got the memory for all those tasks?? What about remodeling? We were so frustrated with the lack of tools to help document and manage remodeling tasks, we often avoided remodeling projects altogether. Why did we need 5 - 20 separate systems to manage our homes? There had to be a way to be more informed and better organized to manage the costs and the value of our homes. Therefore, we created HomeZada, an online and mobile digital home management platform that manages home details like a home inventory, a home maintenance schedule, projects, and home finances. All to help you (and us) become smarter homeowners. We didn’t stop there. We realized that many professionals also found value in HomeZada. So, we added HomeZada Professional, which provides insurance and mortgage companies, real estate agents, builders, property managers, home inventory experts and professional organizers the ability to improve and differentiate their service and build long-term client loyalty. By providing richer customer engagement to help homeowners, our professional partners get increased retention and referrals from their clients. Our team at HomeZada wanted to fill a need that did not exist. Now we can help homeowners become the most informed so that they can make the best decisions for their home, their finances and their time. Sign up now ➡️ secure.homezada.com/users/sign_up

Preparedness looks different depending on where home is.

Late summer can bring wildfire and smoke concerns across parts of the West, tropical-weather risk along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, and severe storms or flooding across parts of the Midwest and South.

But every household may eventually need the same kinds of information: insurance details, room photos, receipts, renovation records and important contacts.

The hazard changes. The need for accessible home records does not.

What type of emergency is most important to prepare for where you live?

September is National Preparedness Month—but preparing your home’s information does not have to become one enormous weekend project.

Start with one room and 15 minutes.

Photograph what is visible, then open the closets, cabinets and drawers. Capture model or serial numbers when they are easy to reach. Add receipts, warranties and renovation details gradually.

Make sure the records can be accessed outside the home and that another trusted household member knows where to find them.

One room recorded now is more useful than a perfect inventory that never gets started.

Save this checklist for your first pass.

You mop, you vacuum, the place looks spotless — so it's clean, right? Not always. A surface can look exactly the same long after what it needs has changed.

Ed Quinlan, a carpet expert on the podcast shared a test anyone can do: cut the foot off a white sock, walk the house, check the bottom. If the soles come up dirty, your carpet's holding more than it's showing, and it's time for a deep clean.

He also made the case for a "sock house" over going barefoot — bare feet press skin oils into the fibers, socks don't.

When did you last deep-clean your carpets? Be honest 😄

Back-to-school changes more than the calendar. Suddenly, different corners of the house are working harder—homework spots, entryways, charging areas, kitchens. A good time to notice whether your home still works the way your family needs it to.
