Due to the wildfire in the Lawson/Old Union area, the City of El Dorado is opening the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium to anyone who has been displaced or is in need of a safe place to shelter.
�The Municipal Auditorium is located at 100 W. 8th Street in El Dorado.
�Please stay safe, follow all instructions from emergency personnel, and keep everyone affected by this fire—as well as our firefighters and first responders—in your thoughts and prayers.

Fire in Lawson/Old Union Area

We are aware of a fire one the Lawson/Old Union Area. It is a large woods fire and multiple Fire Departments and the Forestry Service is on scene. As winds shift expect smoke in El Dorado and surrounding communities. We will update as information comes in.

A Cooler Uniform for Hotter Days

If you’ve noticed our firefighters looking a little more casual lately, there’s a good reason.

During National Weather Service Heat Advisories, El Dorado firefighters are being allowed to wear gray department T-shirts instead of our traditional dark navy duty polos. The lighter shirts will help our crews stay a little cooler while working outdoors in this oppressive South Arkansas heat.

Our firefighters still maintain a professional appearance, but their safety and well-being are important, especially when temperatures and heat indices reach dangerous levels.

Once the extreme heat passes, you’ll see our crews return to their normal duty uniforms.

Until then, stay cool, stay hydrated, and check on your neighbors. We’re ready when you need us.

The El Dorado Fire Department is proud to have members of our command staff attending Fire-Rescue International (FRI) in Kansas City, Missouri.

Each summer, Fire-Rescue International brings together thousands of fire and emergency service leaders from across North America and around the world to learn, network, and exchange ideas. The conference also features hundreds of exhibitors showcasing the latest innovations in apparatus, technology, equipment, and services.

While attending the conference, Deputy Chief Sean McCall participated in the IAFC-FRI 5K Run/Walk this morning, honoring and remembering the 343 FDNY firefighters who selflessly gave their lives on September 11, 2001, so that others might live.

Each participant pays tribute to one of the 343 firefighters by completing the 5K — remembering their sacrifice and honoring their heroic journey to save others.

We are proud of Deputy Chief McCall for participating in this meaningful tribute and helping ensure that the legacy of the 343 continues to be remembered.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸🚒❤️

Today, El Dorado Fire Department crews are out and about to help kick off an exciting new school year! As students head back to class, we're reminding everyone that it's time to slow down and be alert!

🚸 Watch for children crossing streets.
🚌 Stop for school buses with flashing lights.
🚗 Slow down in school zones.
👀 Stay alert and put distractions away.

Our firefighters and EMS crews are displaying our "Schools Open – Slow Down" banners and activating emergency lights to help grab drivers' attention and remind everyone that our children's safety comes first.

All department email addresses now end in .gov

Why the Change?
The .gov domain is reserved exclusively for verified government agencies. This transition helps us:
✅ Enhance cybersecurity
✅ Protect against phishing and email fraud
✅ Make it easier to identify official department communications
✅ Strengthen public trust in our digital services

What Do You Need to Do?
If you have our website bookmarked or one of our email addresses saved, please take a moment to update your records.
