We've gotten quite a few calls wanting to know if letters from us are legit. They are! We are excited to launch this year's National Child/Fire Safety Council Campaign to help us purchase fire prevention materials. These materials are handed out to kids in the community during our public relation events, such as Fire Prevention Week. We appreciate the community's support. If anyone has questions, please call the fire station.

This is a picture of the materials we were able to purchase last year thanks to the community's generous donations!

Do you have a fire extinguisher in your home?

A portable fire extinguisher can save lives and property, but only if used correctly and at the right time. Follow these guidelines from your local fire department to stay safe:

When to Fight the Fire
Only use an extinguisher if:
• The fire is small (like in a wastebasket) and not spreading.
• Everyone has already evacuated the building.
• The fire department has been called (911).
• The room is not filled with smoke.

How to Use It: Remember "PASS"
1. P - Pull the pin. Hold the nozzle away from you and release the lock.
2. A - Aim low. Point at the base of the fire.
3. S - Squeeze the lever slowly and evenly.
4. S - Sweep the nozzle from side to side.

Know When to Go!
Your primary goal is always a safe escape. Ensure your home has working smoke alarms and a practiced escape plan. If the room fills with smoke, leave immediately.

Daylight Saving Time is a great reminder to check the devices that protect your home and family.
When you change your clocks this weekend, take a few extra minutes to:

✔ Test all smoke alarms
✔ Replace batteries if needed
✔ Make sure there is an alarm on every level of your home and inside sleeping areas
✔ Replace any smoke alarms that are 10 years old

Working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire in half. It’s a small task that makes a big difference.

February is American Heart Month, and the American Heart Association has set a goal of doubling the survival of cardiac arrest by 2030.

In every cardiac emergency, the real first responder is not always a uniformed professional but often an everyday bystander. However, bystanders only intervene about 40% of the time, often due touncertainty or lack of training. You do not need medical credentials to save a life. What’s required is knowledge, courage, and the readiness to act.
