Our very own Nick Poe threw out the first pitch at the July 4th El Dorado Walnuts game. During the ceremony prior to the game, veterans and first responders were honored for their service.

We've been honored to be part of celebrating America's 250th birthday alongside our community! From kicking off the weekend at the Celebration of Freedoms First Responder Luncheon on Friday to seeing so many smiling faces at the Fourth of July Parade this morning, it's been a fantastic celebration. We hope you'll join us again tonight for the Veterans Ceremony at 6:15 p.m., followed by the WarDogs and El Dorado Walnuts baseball game at McDonald Stadium. The celebration wraps up Sunday evening with a fireworks show at McDonald Stadium, courtesy of Experience El Dorado. As you continue celebrating this holiday weekend, please stay safe,

We had a lot of fun at the 2026 Butler County EMS Kids Camp last week! The kids had a great time touring the fire engine, learning about the fire equipment and competing in a firefighter relay race.

Butler County is currently working with the Kansas Forest Service and a contractor to build a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). This plan will be used to identify areas in the county that have a high level of wildfire risk, strategize ways to reduce that risk and potentially support grant applications to fund risk reduction activities. Part of the planning process includes gathering public input – our citizens’ thoughts on what our risk levels are and how the county is doing at managing the threat. The planning contractor has developed a survey to help gather that input, and we would love to get your participation! Your feedback will help shape the plan… and enter you into a drawing for a $50 gift card!
