A delicious taco buffet was enjoyed by everyone at the June meeting of Soroptimist El Dorado. Afterward installation of officers for the coming year was on the agenda. Officers included Jolene our President, Sandy our Vice President, Debi our Secretary, Joni our Treasurer, Dee, Velma & Carol our delegates. Next years planning meeting will be 1st Monday of August. Head on out to El Dorado’s best coffee house on June 5th to grab a coffee, sandwich or other yummy snacks! BrewCo. Coffeehouse & Dilly Deli are partnering with El Dorado Soroptimist on their “Give Back” day, June 5, 2026! A portion of each sale will come back to Soroptimist to help us continue our goal of helping girls and women in our community. Hope to see you there!

South Central region conference in Kansas City was attended by several of our club members, (Bebe & Dee). Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.

El Dorado Soroptimist’s Dream It Be It (DIBI) event last Saturday was a success! We had an enthusiastic group of eighth grade girls join us for the event. Between lecture, videos and hands-on activities, the girls learned about new legislature that will affect them as they enter their freshman year of high school. Safety while on social media was a very important topic, along with working through the differences between anxiety and depression. The girls were introduced to many different avenues of scholarships and ideas on how to pay for an education beyond high school, along with possible job opportunities for them to experience in the next few years. The day ended with a fashion show showing off new outfits they were able to put together from Great Beginnings here in El Dorado.

Each quarter members of Soroptimist El Dorado collects funds for a worthy cause in our community. Donations were collected for the SBAMH Foundation in the months of January, February, and March. The total amount collected is $330.00. A check was presented to Holly Landon, executive director, SBAMH foundation.

The February social for El Dorado Soroptimist gals began at Candiles Mexican restaurant. We enjoyed great food and lively conversation. But, the evening didn’t stop there! We ventured on to Augusta’s historic Theatre for the "Elvis: Rock N' Remember Show". This was performed by, Joseph Hall, an Elvis Presley tribute artist known from America's Got Talent. “Elvis” had us singing, clapping and thoroughly enjoying ourselves! There were times you could close your eyes and almost hear Elvis! He performed so many of Elvis‘s songs, but the 2 that I enjoyed the most was Amazing Grace & Can’t Help Falling in Love. Tonight the girls got together and had a delicious dinner at Freddy’s in El Dorado Kansas. Thank you Freddy’s for supporting Soroptimist El Dorado with your giveback program.  We are a group that supports girls and women in our community. The proceeds from their giveback program will be used to continue supporting our goals!
