El Monte Union’s Board of Trustees celebrated South El Monte High School senior Ashley Yu and junior Tessa Ocegueda on May 20, recognizing their outstanding service as Student Board Members during the 2025-26 school year! Throughout their tenure, our student leaders provided valuable insight and represented the voices of their peers on key District initiatives. Yu, who will attend UC Davis this fall to study international relations, was presented with university gear and a commemorative award. Congratulations to Ashley and Tessa for their dedication and lasting contributions to the El Monte Union community!

El Monte Union’s Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SAC) concluded the 2025–26 school year at its May 18 final meeting. Graduating seniors were recognized with custom stoles and cords for their leadership and service, while underclassmen received certificates honoring their contributions! South El Monte High School rising senior Tessa Ocegueda was elected 2026–27 senior Student Board Member and SAC president and rising junior Mia Arteaga was appointed junior Student Board Member and vice president. Members also honored outgoing Student Board Member Ashley Yu for her service to the El Monte Union community!
