Active-Duty Death – Fire Fighter Andrew Lithgoe

It is with a heavy heart the shares the Active-Duty Death of Fire Fighter (FF) Andrew Lithgoe, who unexpectedly passed on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, while off-duty at home.

FF Lithgoe was last assigned to Fire Station 36 in the City of Carson. He faithfully served our Department, residents, and communities for 22 years.

We extend our prayers and condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of FF Lithgoe.

To ensure the proper care and support of the Lithgoe family and our LACoFD personnel, Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone has activated the Department’s chaplains, Peer Support Team, behavioral health clinicians, and Memorial Management Team.

Thank you for respecting the privacy of the Lithgoe family during this difficult time.

Local 1014 was honored to stand with the families of our fallen members and our fire service brothers and sisters from across the United States and Canada at the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial.

We stand with their loved ones today and always. We will never forget.

Honoring Our Fallen. Remembering Their Sacrifice.

The was honored to join firefighters, families, and fire service leaders from across the United States and Canada at the IAFF 40th Annual Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone was joined by chief officers, labor partners, firefighters, the Honor Guard, and Los Angeles County Firefighters Pipes & Drums to stand alongside the families of our fallen firefighters as we paid tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities, including four of our very own:

🚒 FF Dustin Roberto

The memorial is a solemn reminder that while our fallen may be gone, their courage, dedication, and service will never be forgotten. We remain committed to honoring their legacy and standing beside the families they leave behind.

Many of our firefighters, including Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone and Chief Deputy Jon O’Brien, are in today to show their support on this solemn 25th Remembrance of 9/11.

Across today, our men and women will also be in attendance at multiple remembrance ceremonies to honor and pay tribute to the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on Flight 93, including 343 firefighters and 71 law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Twenty-five years have passed, but the heartbreak of September 11, 2001, has never faded.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives taken too soon, including the 343 FDNY firefighters who answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice. We honor every first responder who ran toward unimaginable danger—and those, including members of our own LA County Fire Department, who traveled to Ground Zero and worked tirelessly through the rescue and recovery efforts that followed.

We also remember the firefighters, first responders and recovery workers we have lost in the years since to occupational cancers and illnesses caused by their service at Ground Zero. Their sacrifice is part of the lasting toll of that day, and they must never be forgotten.

We carry their courage with us. We speak their names. We remember their sacrifice.

Twenty-five years later, we still grieve. We still honor. We will never forget.

Whether responding to a wildfire, medical emergency, structure fire, or any call for help, our members remain on the front lines 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
