El Paso Sector continues to see large number of migrants attempting to evade arrest throughout the entire sector. This is in addition to migrants surrendering themselves to agents, at the border, in downtown El Paso. Thus far, El Paso Sector has recorded 106,561 migrant encounters this fiscal year 2023. In 24-hours, agents foil 7 separate smuggling schemes in southern . Transnational Criminal Organizations continue to exploit the current migrant influx, for monetary gain, & recruit other migrants, as drivers, to conduct their smuggling illicit activity. Thank you for your vigilance Deming!
Amidst the migrant influx, Sector agents continue to identify & classify all who come into our custody. Agents arrested a MX National with an extensive criminal history that includes convictions for Possession w/ Intent to Distribute out and . The subject was also confirmed to be a Zetas Gang member. Phenomenal work agents!
Sector checkpoint and field agents were busy over the Christmas weekend with multiple foiled smuggling schemes and numerous migrants intercepted inside commercial buses. OVER 420 migrants were encountered attempting to evade arrest and make further entry into U.S. illegally. Thank you El Paso Sector agents for your continued dedication to the border security mission!

Recently checkpoint agents have encountered 60 migrants on 3 separate buses attempting to further themselves into the illegally. Outstanding work from our checkpoint agents!
All around El Paso Sector, Border Patrol agents have been selflessly spreading Christmas cheer by sponsoring students in local school districts via jacket giveaways, secret Santa gifts, and donating toys to children in need. Thank you to our agents for keeping this season merry and bright for the members of our community!
This week two convicted s*x offenders were apprehended by agents from the Las Cruces and Santa Teresa Stations. Both subjects, from Guatemala, were charged and convicted with these crimes out of the state of . Subjects were federally charged and processed for the Illegal Re-Entry under 8 USC 1326. Thank you agents for remaining vigilant and protecting our communities.
Station Anti-Smuggling Unit collaborates with TX DPS to disrupt human smuggling schemes. Starting on I-10, with the interception of 10 smuggled migrants along with the smuggler located inside an SUV. Information received from this scheme led to a local stash house where an additional 17 migrants were located. The smugglers will face federal charges. In the last 72-hours, El Paso Sector agents intercepted 97 smuggled migrants from foiled smuggling schemes. Well done!
Great work by our Las Cruces Station agents working the I-25 checkpoint who intercepted 51 migrants attempting to be smuggled further into the US, by smugglers, in 7 different vehicles. Our immigration checkpoints are critical to our border security mission. Well done!
Over the weekend, the El Paso Sector experienced a major surge in illegal crossings with a 3-day average of 2,460 daily encounters, primarily through the downtown area of El Paso. Border Patrol personnel, along with our governmental and non-governmental partners, are doing all we can to assess and manage the migrant influx as it continues to impact our region. We will continue to keep the public informed as the situation evolves.
El Paso and Santa Teresa Station agents participated in the Texas Tech Health Science’s Annual “Cookies, Cocoa, Holiday Cheer” event. Agents spent the evening actively engaging with the community and representing the U.S. Border Patrol. Engagement with our local community is vital.
Agents assigned to the Anti-Smuggling Unit along with HSI disrupted a vehicular smuggling scheme resulting in the interception of 8 smuggled migrants and the arrest of 2 Venezuelan National smugglers involved in the scheme. Seven adults and a 1-year-old, from Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras were located crammed in the back seats of the vehicle. Excellent work by these agents.
Lordsburg, NM station leadership and agents delivered special acts of kindness by making a local student, with special needs, an honorary Border Patrol Agent. After hearing of Manny’s story, agents and local community members came together to give him a special day. During the ceremony, the student was also presented with the key to the city of Lordsburg by the Mayor. Thank you for making this happen!
Over the weekend Alamogordo agents seized 2.3 kilograms of co***ne at the Highway 54 checkpoint. After consent to search the vehicle, agents discovered one bundle in plain view & another concealed inside a battery compartment located inside the trunk. One U.S. citizen was taken into custody and will face federal charges for the drug smuggling scheme. Great job by all involved!

Las Cruces Station agents, HSI El Paso & Dona Ana Sheriff’s Office conducted a knock & talk at a local residence, resulting in in the interception of 25 smuggled migrants illegally attempting to remain in the . The case was accepted for prosecution and two Mexican smugglers will face federal charges under 8 USC 1324 – Conspiracy to Harbor Aliens. Outstanding work!!
Great collaborated effort between & Station agents along with our Sector Intelligence Unit for targeting and disrupting a human smuggling scheme at an apartment residence. Two smugglers and 19 smuggled migrants were intercepted. Both Mexican smugglers will face charges for the smuggling scheme.
El Paso Sector Intelligence Unit agents exposed a suspected murderer from Ecuador. Partnerships with law enforcement partners abroad, to include Grupo Conjunto Inteligencia Froteriza, is vital to our border security mission as they assist us with verifying warrants and foreign criminal checks. The female Ecuadorian will face charges for the illegal entry and expeditiously removed from the U.S.

Santa Teresa Station agents apprehended a convicted child predator attempting to illegally re-enter the . This migrant was previously convicted with Sexual Abuse of a Minor in Montgomery County Maryland and sentence to 10-years imprisonment. Subject was charged with 8 USC 1326 for the illegal re-entry. Agents in Santa Teresa Station’s area of responsibility utilize innovative technology to enhance daytime and nighttime capabilities to detect and identify activity at the border.
Amazing job Santa Teresa Station & Sector Anti-Smuggling Units, working alongside TX DPS, for following a lead that resulted in the interception of 45 smuggled migrants and 1 smuggler from a local stash house. Thus far this FY2023, El Paso Sector agents have already discovered 29 stash houses and located 347 migrants from these smuggling schemes.
Amazing job to the Santa Teresa Station agents for pro-active action in a search and rescue of an injured migrant in the desert area! This FY2023 to date, since Oct. 1, El Paso Sector Border Patrol Agents have already rescued over 25 migrants thus saving countless lives.
Both & Stations foiled several separate smuggling schemes, this week, involving vehicles that failed to yield to agents. Santa Teresa agents located the passenger van, in question, abandoned near I-10 after an extensive search, alongside 10 migrants hiding near the conveyance. In Clint, multiple individuals were observed bailing out of an SUV, after it failed to yield to agents, and were successfully located hiding in nearby brush. Altogether, a total of 14 migrants attempting to be smuggled further into the were intercepted. Outstanding work!

MIGRANTS RESCUED! U.S. Border Patrol Agents from Ysleta station discovered over 40 noncitizen unaccompanied children along the river attempting to enter illegally. CANAL DANGER! Although canals can look harmless, they can be extremely dangerous! El Paso Border Patrol Agents rescued 3 migrants from drowning in a canal while attempting to illegally enter the United States. The attentiveness of these agents saved 3 human lives! Great work!

ABANDONED CHILDREN: Human Smugglers, during hours of darkness, scaled a 14 ft. border barrier and cruelly dropped 2 tender aged children in the middle of the desert in New Mexico. The young girls, ages 3 and 5, were left miles from the nearest residence. Thank you STN agents for responding to the aid of these children!
