El Paso Sector BP Agents w/Office of Field Operations apprehended a Mexican national wanted for sexual assault of a minor in Ciudad Juarez. The subject was repatriated and taken into custody by Mexican Officials.

During the hottest months of the year, BP Agents quickly assess heat-related illnesses when encountering people trying to traverse this harsh landscape. As summer heat rises to deadly levels, smugglers continue to recklessly exploit vulnerable people for profit.

El Paso Sector BP Agents apprehended 3 Guatemalan nationals with outstanding warrants for aggravated r**e, domestic violence, and illegal possession of a firearm in their country. Thanks to binational efforts, agents were able to track these migrants’ criminal histories and have them repatriated and taken into custody by Guatemalan officials.

A Las Cruces BP Agent deployed a vehicle immobilization device (VID) at a checkpoint and 6 migrants were apprehended including a foot guide. The VID is an asset to disable fleeing vehicles and prevent dangerous pursuits.

Santa Teresa BP Agents apprehended a Mexican national with an active warrant for homicide. The subject was repatriated and taken into custody by Mexican Officials. Thanks to binational coordination efforts, this criminal has been prevented from entering our communities!

Smugglers Sentenced! In a joint effort between Santa Teresa Agents and HSI, two smugglers have been sentenced for their involvement in a failed smuggling attempt resulting in the death of a migrant. Both individuals received cumulative sentences of 36 months and 10 years, respectively.

🚨 Triple-digit temperatures are here! 🚨 Several emergencies involving heat-related illnesses occurred over the weekend. Tragically, agents encountered four migrants who had died from heat stroke and dehydration. Our agents are prepared with advanced technology and specialized search and rescue teams, but people need to seriously consider the severe risks of crossing in extreme heat under the treacherous conditions of the desert, including death. BP agents work tirelessly to save lives, but the safest option is not to attempt the crossing.
