Rio Grande COG The Rio Grande Council of Governments (RGCOG) is a voluntary association of local governments in West Texas and Southern New Mexico formed under Texas law.

We are dedicated to ensuring that Far West Texas achieves a complete count in the 2020 Census.

This May, we’re celebrating Older Americans Month by flipping the script on aging in the Borderland! For nearly 30 years, the has supported older adults whose everyday needs often fall outside the scope of traditional programs.

In partnership with the , the fund helps cover essentials like hearing aids, nutritional supplements, and safety ramps, so seniors can live with dignity, independence, and purpose. This year’s theme, “Flip the Script on Aging,” challenges outdated views and reminds us of the strength and value older adults bring to our communities.

The Rio Grande Area Agency on Aging invites you to celebrate May as Older Americans Month. The 2025 theme, "Flip the Script on Aging,” encourages us to challenge outdated stereotypes and embrace the many opportunities that come with aging. Here’s how you can help flip the script on aging:

Celebrate the contributions of individuals across all generations in the workplace and community
Use positive and inclusive language when discussing aging
Share fact-based messages about older adults’ abilities and the value they bring to our communities

El Paso County Transit is now ETA - El Paso Transportation Authority! 🚍 We’re committed to improving public transit in rural El Paso County. ETA now operates six routes serving the Upper Valley, Far East El Paso County, and the Mission Valley.
📢 Socorro riders: Routes 40 and 50 have been updated following the elimination of Route 84. You can continue using ETA Transit through June 30. Want to see ETA continue beyond that? Contact your city council representatives and let them know!

Family Caregivers are celebrated in the month of November in the US. It is celebrated to thank more than 50 million family caregivers across the country. We want to make sure people know the importance of Family Caregivers. They provide care and assistance to family members due to illness, injury or disability and because of their help, it is possible for their loved one to remain at home. Thank you to all Family Caregivers from the Rio Grande Area Agency on Aging.
