September is National Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. As the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps partners with the REACH program, we are kicking off the campaign: Look within your circle of influence to reach out to others who seem to need an encouraging word and perhaps, some assistance finding resources for more help. If each of us gets in the habit of regularly reaching out to someone in need, we can begin to turn the tide.

Please take up the prayer challenge with the following focus areas:

• Sept. 1-6: Regular Army Soldiers
• Sept. 7-13: Army National Guard and Army Reserve Soldiers
• Sept. 14-20: Army Family members
• Sept. 21-27: America’s Veterans

Resources to assist:

• 24/7 National Su***de Prevention Lifeline – 1-800-273-TALK (8255)
• TRADOC’s “WeCare” app supporting the Army’s Su***de Prevention Campaign – https://www.army.mil/article/238298

Pfc. Junialla Manantan, an automated logistical specialist in our very own 1-43 ADA "Cobra Strike" Battalion checks identification cards of those entering the installation while wearing proper protective equipment to safeguard herself and others against COVID-19.

We ask that you all continue to follow the implementation of travel restrictions and restrictions on movement. These restrictions are necessary to preserve force readiness, limit the continuing spread of the virus and preserve the health and welfare of Service Members, DA civilian employees, their families and the local communities in which we live.

Today, the Cobra Strike For Life family bid farewell to CSM Arthur Jones and welcomed CSM Albert Fletcher during the 1-43 ADA Change of Responsibility ceremony. As Cobra 7, CSM Jones displayed enormous dedication to both Soldiers and the mission and truly leaves a legacy through his leadership example. We wish him the best as he moves on in his career! CSM Fletcher has big shoes to fill, but is more than ready to take 1-43 ADA to new heights. He is no stranger to the Cobra family, as he was our Operations Sergeant Major during this last deployment, and has already made a significant impact on the unit.

In accordance with the Deputy Secretary of Defense memorandum dated 13 March 2020, a Stop Movement for domestic travel is in effect for all DoD Components in response to the Corona Virus (COVID-19). The spirit and intent of this action is to limit COVID-19's spread and its impact on the readiness of our military force as well as preserve the health and welfare of Service members, DoD civilian employees, their families, and the local communities in which we live. The Stop Movement affects all 1-43 ADA Battalion Soldiers, their Families, and DA Civilians. 1-43 ADA Battalion understands the implications of this directive and will continue to support and assist our Soldiers and their Families.

Soldiers and Families should direct questions and concerns regarding Stop Movement to their respective Chain of Command. As the situation with the COVID-19 virus continues to develop, updated information and guidance will be distributed.

R-Day on January 31 consisted of the two promotions of CPL Dewy and CPL Young to the rank of SGT. We also had guest speaker Mr. Jordan speak to the Cobra Strike For Life family about good decision making and the dangers of abusing alcohol. The healthy competition this past Friday consisted of a relay with various ACFT activities. 3 Soldiers, 1 NCO and the 1SG of each unit competed through the rigorous obstacle course for the fastest time. A-2 THAAD and Alpha batteries tied, leading to a tie breaker in which both battery commanders raced in a 200 meter sprint. Congratulations to A-2 THAAD for winning the R-Time events for the second week in a row!

*If any Soldiers in 1-43 ADA have acting skills and would like to volunteer to be in the Fort Bliss play titled “The Introduction” please see your chain of command for more information.*
