The City of El Paso’s Capital Improvement Department will begin the construction of MCA Quiet Zone Project the week of November 9, 2020. The project includes the following services and amenities:

• Restrict the routine sounding of locomotive horns 24-hours a day
• Improvements to railroad crossing gate systems, curbs, medians, sidewalks and guardrails
• Improvements to street markers, signage, trench drains, ramps and driveways
• Work will begin on the Concepcion and Chelsea railroad crossings during the week of November 9, 2020. Once those railroad crossings are complete, work will continue on the remaining railroad crossings in this order: Glenwood, Clark, Boone, Copia, San Marcial, Estrella, Cebada and Grama.. Upon completion crossings at Estrella, Cebada, and Boone Streets will be permanently closed.

The MCA Quiet Zone project is scheduled for completion in the Spring of 2021. Proper traffic control measures will be in place throughout the duration of the project, and access for residents will be maintained at all times. The work schedule and closures can modified in order to accommodate any unforeseen conditions or events.

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat strokes! Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and take breaks in the AC as often as possible. This long duration heat wave puts most of the population at risk for heat-related illnesses as our bodies don't get a break from the hot conditions.

If it's hot outside for you, it's even hotter for your pet!

Pets can get dehydrated quickly, so give them plenty of fresh, clean water. Make sure your pets have a shady place to get out of the sun, be careful not to over-exercise them, and keep them indoors when it’s extremely hot.

It's great to finally have Lee Blvd repaved. I have lived here for 20+ years and I can't remember the last time it was resurfaced. However, as much as I appreciate that it was finally revamped... was it really necessary to get rid of one of the two north and south bound lanes between the Montwood and Pebble Hills stretch just for bike lanes? Seriously though, what a waste of space, and peoples time.
