Hello Friends and Family! El Paso Giving Day is on October 15, 2020 from 12AM to 11:59PM. We are asking for your help in two very important ways:

El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank

We have expanded our distribution sites throughout El Paso to better serve your needs starting Tuesday, March 24, 2020!

We are asking community members who are in need of food assistance to PLEASE go to the distribution point closest to their home.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to help us with distributing and assembling emergency food boxes! We need to recruit 80 volunteers (40 per shift AM and PM) per day as quickly as possible. Volunteers need to be in good health and a minimum of 16 years old. EPFH has implemented a health and hygiene protocol to keep volunteers safe. Community members who are able to volunteer can sign up at https://elpasoansfightinghunger.org/details/donate/donate-time-volunteer or by contacting our Volunteer Coordinator, Miranda Chapman, at 915-247-0257 or by email at [email protected].

People who cannot volunteer are strongly encouraged to assist EPFH with monetary donations by going to elpasoansfightinghunger.org/donate or by text message by texting FeedingElPaso to 243725. $1 equates to 7 meals.

PRIDE Center had the honor and privilege to host visitors from Africa who were invited to the United States under the auspices of the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. The Institute of International Education arranged their program.

Specific objectives for their travel included:

• Examine the role vocational education plays in providing Americans with training and skills tailored to fit targeted employment needs;
• Demonstrate specific workforce niches filled by community colleges, vocational/technology schools and certificate programs and how these institutions have evolved to meet economic needs;
• Assess the federal government’s investment in innovative education for youth;
• Study ways teachers and businesses get youth interested in futurelooking careers; and
• Explore student internships and opportunities for employment upon graduation.

The African delegation met earlier with Workforce Solutions Borderplex, who arranged for the visit to PRIDE Center, an initiative of El Paso Human Services Inc and a partner in providing employment and support services to young people aging out of foster care.

THE EPHSI staff is comprised of diverse, bilingual, professional, paraprofessional, dedicated and amazing individuals! While their personal, educational and professional skills and backgrounds are as varied as each person is unique, the most important characteristic shared by all is the passion to serve their clients. This passion is key to their commitment to provide quality services in their respective roles and programs. For our CACFP staff, this passion lies in the knowledge that thousands of children are receiving nutritious, well-balanced meals on a daily basis which they might not otherwise receive. For our youth programs and direct services staff, this passion fuels the drive to find solutions for their clients, to never give up on them, to look at the humanity of the individual and help them find hope in each day.

Come meet our staff today from 4-7pm at our Open House.

"It's a time for celebration! The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is turning 50 and the organization that I volunteer my time to on the Board of Directors is raising funds to take that celebration to Captiol Hill. The CACFP feeds millions of children healthy food in child care and at-risk/afterschool setting - many of which might not receive a meal at all. Please donate to help us celebrate the program that I work so hard to protect."
Hello everyone and HAPPY FRIDAY! Today we'd like to showcase a home daycare provider who has been with the El Paso Human Services, Inc. food program for over 20 years. Please help us say congratulations and farewell to Angelika Brooks, as she will be retiring in June!
