Paso del Norte Health Foundation The Paso del Norte Health Foundation in El Paso, Texas is one of the largest private foundations on the U.S./Mexico border. The Paso del Norte Health Foundation was established in 1995 from the sale of Providence Memorial Hospital.

The Foundation’s goal is to continue the work begun by Providence to improve the health and wellness of the people living in the Paso del Norte Region through education and prevention. The binational environment in which the Foundation operates is unique. The Paso del Norte Region includes two-countries and three-states with nearly 2.3 million people living in Doña Ana, Luna, and Otero County in New Mexico; El Paso and Hudspeth County of Texas; and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. With the population, over 750,000 residents are under the age of 18.

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation is pleased to invite proposals for Community Outreach Worker (promotora outreach) programs designed to address the dynamic COVID-19 pandemic.

Nonprofit agencies and units of government, including universities, that have demonstrated experience with promotora outreach and are within the Paso del Norte region are eligible to apply.

Gracias al Apoyo de PASO DEL NORTE HEALTH FOUNDATION, estamos implementando con éxito el “Programa de Atención Nutricional para niños en Ciudad Juárez”, con menores de las escuelas primarias Francisco Villa y Riveras del Bravo, atendiendo a 750 niños y niñas de 6 a 12 años de edad quienes están recibiendo desayunos fríos y apoyo alimentario, además de diversos talleres virtuales como nutrición e higiene , huerto en casa y activación física, para lo cual les fueron entregadas Tabletas electrónicas, los padres de familia también participan en el taller virtual de Orientación Alimentaria.

Our Program officer Jana Renner was a guest speaker at this year's Texas Trails and Active Transportation (TTAT) Conference. Her session highlighted the development and implementation of a master plan for the Paso del Norte Trail, which includes the 3.4-mile hike and bike Playa Drain Trail, a project led and funded by the Health Foundation, from Ascarate Park to Riverside High School that offers residents a safe and easy choice to stay active.

Food is one of the best things about the holidays! As the holiday season begins, you do not have to choose between eating healthy and eating delicious meals. Sabrosa Vida can teach you how to combine both!

Sabrosa Vida is a series of classes that includes cooking lessons from local chefs, who not only teach recipes but also how to shop healthy on a budget, how to make healthy substitutions to traditional favorites, and how to read labels on packaged foods.

This is a place where our El Paso community and those across the nation can go to find tools and strategies for managing emotions and feelings. It’s about self-care and by taking just a few minutes a day to focus on relaxation, you can reduce the negative effects of chronic stress on your overall well-being.

The purpose of a calming room is to offer an environment of relaxation, to help individuals calm their senses and now it's available at your finger tips. There are relaxing sounds and music, guided meditation, videos, and other online calming activities such as games and puzzles.

UTHealth School of Public Health

To better understand a person’s COVID-19 antibody response, the UTHealth School of Public Health is looking for Texas volunteers to participate in the Texas Cares - Texas Coronavirus Antibody Response survey. Individuals who have tested positive, negative, or have never been tested for COVID-19 at all are welcome to participate. School-aged children (5-17 years), education professionals, patients at community clinics, and employees at health clinics, public transit, banks and grocery or retail stores are especially encouraged to take part in the study.
