Do you have school-age children? Then this could apply to your family.
Students who reside within the Socorro Independent School District return to school on Monday, 29 July 2013. With the rapid growth of the district, some students may need to be placed at a nearby campus to ensure class sizes remain within Texas and Federal guidelines to provide the very best academic environment for all students.
The following procedures have been put in place by the Socorro ISD:
1. If there is not room at the home campus the parents are notified that the child will be overflowed and the parents will be contacted;
2. The home campus notifies SISD district offices with the student's information - grade, sp ed, monolingual, bilingual, etc;
3. SISD finds a place for the student at an overflow campus and notifies the home school and the overflow campus;
4. The home school contacts the parent to let them know where there child will be attending school;
5. Students who have been overflowed are placed on a waiting list and will be invited back as space becomes available at the home school;
6. If a student would have been authorized transportation to their home school, e.g. they live outside a 2 mile radius, transportation will provide transportation from a centralized location within the neighborhood;
7. If the student would not have been authorized transportation to their home school, e.g. they live within a 2 mile radius, the parent/guardian will transport the student to the home school where transportation will then be provided to the overflow school. Please contact SISD transportation at
