Saturday Drill 10/29/22
epfdexplorers.com The EPFD Explorer Program is a youth-based organization within the EPFD that focuses on fire service exploring.
The organization allows teens and young adults ages 14-21 to see, experience, and train on many aspects of typical firefighter duties. This includes everything from emergency medical procedures, to placing ladders, to (eventually) live fire training. The intent is to allow the participants the opportunity to see what being a firefighter is “all about” before committing to a career in the fire serv
ice. We have a strong focus on physical fitness (a must within the fire service) and overall health. We also do a good amount of volunteer and community service work. Requirements: Explorers must maintain a “C” average in school (progress reports are required to be submitted no later than one week after being issued by the school). You CANNOT have any criminal offenses on your record prior to, or during your participation in the program. You must attend, and be on time to, a minimum of 2 weekly meetings a month and a majority of community service/volunteer opportunities. Uniform regulations are strictly enforced. You will need to provide black steel-toe boots, a black belt with a simple “D” buckle, running shoes, and navy blue flat-front Dickie’s style work pants. Do not make any purchases prior to your first day. There are some other little things that we will cover on day 1. Weekly meetings are held at the El Paso Fire Training Academy at 6800 Delta inside of Ascarate Park from 8-11 am. If you need directions let me know. When entering the park you will need to let the guard shack attendant know that you are there for the fire department to avoid having to pay the entry fee. It is STRONGLY suggested that you eat a small meal prior to coming out, and make sure to bring water with you.
