The Clint Fire Department would like to give you some good tips as our city is experiencing triple digit temp.
1. Remember to hydrate, drink plenty of water & limit high sugar drinks.
2.Limit the sun exposure. Stay in a well shade area. If you have to be outside, cooling towel will help!
3. Check on the elderly (family, friends, & neighbors) make sure they have A/C or fans.
4. Wear light clothings and light colors, if you need to be outdoors.
5. Take care of your pets…make sure they have water & shade too!

The City of El Paso’s Cooling Centers will remain open through Sunday, June 20, as El Paso continues to face an extreme heatwave with triple-digit temperatures.

Health and emergency officials urge the community, especially senior residents, to stay as cool as possible in order to avoid heat-related illnesses.

In addition to the previously announced cooling stations, the El Paso Office of Emergency Management, in collaboration with the City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Center and the Extreme Weather Task Force, are opening an additional cooling station at the Memorial Park Senior Center today, Saturday, June 12. Guests will be directed to the Valle Bajo Community Center just one mile south of the recreation center starting on Monday, June 14.

The free cooling stations are located at:

• Galatzan Rec Center, 650 Wallenberg Dr. (Districts 1 and 8 )
• Memorial Park Senior Center, 1800 Byron St. (District 2 )
• Veterans Rec Center, 5301 Salem Dr. (District 4 )
• Chamizal Rec Center, 2101 Cypress Ave. (District 8 )

• Valle Bajo Community Center, 7380 Alameda Ave. (District 3 and 7)
• Marty Robbins Rec Center, 11620 Vista del Sol Dr. (Districts 5, 6 and 7)

About the El Paso Fire Dept.

The El Paso Fire Department is a full-service fire department. We respond to all calls involving fires, medical emergencies, and hazardous materials events in the City of El Paso. Specialized teams respond to water, mountain, and technical rescues. The Department also responds to many other types of emergency events and provides aid to Fort Bliss Military Base and the County of El Paso under the terms of the Mutual Aid Agreements.

When an emergency event occurs the role of the Fire Department is to arrive on the scene as quickly and safely as possible in order to provide assistance and mitigate the emergency.

The Fire Department responds to over 70,000 emergency calls annually. The Fire Department utilizes resources from the community to limit the number and types of emergencies that occur.

The inspectors of the Fire Prevention Division help ensure that the building and fire codes are followed. All businesses are inspected for fire hazards annually. If inspectors find any, the owner or occupant is required to fix them and bring them up to the requirements of the code. Investigators help ensure that suspicious fires are thoroughly investigated and people that commit these types of fires are brought to justice.

My uncle, Jose “Joe” Scott served in the fire dept till he passed, my son trained with Kip Hall, I have always treated the firemen with respect and honor, so it’s quite sad when I called because I was feeling badly and the Lt. that showed up only wanted to know if I wasn’t going to the hospital WHY did I call?? I’m get it, it was 2 am and I should have just not asked for help but then I remembered that as a first responder it’s our duty, I’m retired law enforcement, so the sting was that much more.
I wanted to send out a heart felt thank you to Lt. Franco and the paramedics who took care of me on Saturday afternoon. I was involved in a Pitbull attack of my two dogs at Montana Agave Apts. The dog hit me from behind pushing me to the ground and splitting open my nose. Thank you all again for all your help. God bless you all and thank you for your service.
