Today, members of the EPFD participated in a stair climb at the Kip Hall Memorial Tower. They were joined by members of the El Paso Police, West Valley Fire and County Fire Depts, family and friends.

110 floors were climbed, honoring the firefighters and law enforcement officers that rushed into the World Trade Center on 9/11 and gave up their lives so others could live.

343 FDNY firefighters, 37 PAPD officers, 23 NYPD officers, 8 EMTs and paramedics, 3 NY State Court Officers, 1 New York Fire Patrol patrolman plus hundreds of first responders who have died of conditions related to their service on the search and rescue operations in NYC twenty years ago, they are not forgotten and never will be. 🇺🇸

This morning, members of the El Paso Fire, Police and Sheriff’s Office paid tribute to the victims of 9/11 at a ceremony at Fire Station 18.

During the ceremony, 13 seats were left empty honoring the 13 U.S. service members lost in action in Afghanistan last month.

20 years since September 11 have passed, but our promise to never forget those who we lost will remain forever.

20th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

09/11/2021

On this morning… 20 years ago, 246 people woke up in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people woke up and got ready for work. 343 firefighters prepared for their shift. 60 police officers arrived for their early morning briefing. 8 paramedics did early morning equipment checks on their ambulances. None of them lived past 10:30 am on Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take this morning in preparation for your day, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted. #NeverForget

My uncle, Jose “Joe” Scott served in the fire dept till he passed, my son trained with Kip Hall, I have always treated the firemen with respect and honor, so it’s quite sad when I called because I was feeling badly and the Lt. that showed up only wanted to know if I wasn’t going to the hospital WHY did I call?? I’m get it, it was 2 am and I should have just not asked for help but then I remembered that as a first responder it’s our duty, I’m retired law enforcement, so the sting was that much more.
I wanted to send out a heart felt thank you to Lt. Franco and the paramedics who took care of me on Saturday afternoon. I was involved in a Pitbull attack of my two dogs at Montana Agave Apts. The dog hit me from behind pushing me to the ground and splitting open my nose. Thank you all again for all your help. God bless you all and thank you for your service.
