Northeast Business Alliance El Paso

Northeast Business Alliance El Paso NEBA (Northeast Business Alliance). We are a community enrichment organization and we meet once a month at a business in NE, El Paso.

The History of NEBA

(Northeast Business Alliance)

More than a decade ago, various individuals and organizations realized the importance of promoting local residents to shop “in their own backyard”. The Northeast Business Alliance, often called NEBA, began in 1999 as a networking venue for northeast El Paso business and civic groups. This non-profit organization created bumper sticker promoting “

Shop Northeast”. Original Officers and Board Members of NEBA

Lifelong northeast resident Tony Lewis (Tony Lewis Collision and Paint Center) served as the first president of NEBA. Other members include Adrian Madrigal from the Small Business Administration, and Bob Snead of the Black Chamber of Commerce. Tony Benitez, a New York Life agent, served as the first Secretary and Carl Robinson serves as the first Treasurer of the organization. The board grew to also include Bill LaRue of the National Bank of El Paso, Beth Newman, of Jean’s Tax and Bookkeeping Services, Jody Todd of Jots and Junque by Jody, and Donna Brown, HR Consultant. Early NEBA Meetings

A vision for the newly-formed Northeast Business Alliance germinated in the basement of the Northeast Shopping Mall. The group developed plans and strategies for helping northeast businesses. A very successful “after hours” event was held where businesses could promote themselves as a group– with food, entertainment, and vendors tables where area residents could see what the community had to offer. This also gave business’s a chance to network together. Soon afterward, the group began meeting at the Denny’s on Trans Mountain/ Woodrow Bean on a monthly basis; to network, learn from each other, and to listen to guest speakers from the community. Getting the Word Out to the Community

Donna Brown created and distributed the first NEBA newsletter. Tom Stady of S & T Marketing led other volunteers to enhance Northeast El Paso Business’ image by creating a “Clean-up Committee”. This group collected trash from unsightly parking lots and area streets to enhance the neighborhood. Around this time, a group of NEBA members began working with the Flag Foundation that was responsible for the giant flag (and memorials) at Diana and Highway 54. Later NEBA meetings moved to the Northeast Optimist Club. Clark Peters of Northeast Healthy Communities became the President soon afterward; followed by Rickie Williamson of El Paso Disposal. He served as President until NEBA disbanded. Renewed Commitment

The original NEBA board members decided to resurrect the organization in 2007. They sponsored a Holiday Reunion to discuss how they could create a successful version of the Northeast Business Alliance. New bylaws were enacted to support a new vision that more closely aligned to the needs of northeast businesses and the community. They now meet the third Tuesday of each month. Everyone is welcome to NEBA meetings.

"ABOVE AND BEYOND"

On June 19th, 2022, at approximately 9:30 pm Sheriff’s Deputies were called out to the 3900 block of Vanderveer in reference to a Structure Fire. Fully engulfed in flames was a trailer home attached to a single residence.

Upon arrival of Deputy Prospero noticed family members were trying to make entry into the engulfed home to secure religious items. Deputy Prospero also met up with a gentleman Daniel Cardenas who is a Detention Officer with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Cardenas was on his way home when he observed the large fire. As he ran towards the burning home he noticed 2 females standing inside the trailer home. Without hesitation he ran inside to help the two ladies out also assisting them with the personal items they wanted to take. Mr. Cardenas did not stop there, he went back and assisted the Father and Mother getting them out of the trailer.

Mr. Cardenas did make a statement to the family “lo material se recupera, la vida no”, which translates to “you can recuperate material, but not your life.”

Mr. Cardenas’s fitness attire was far from providing any protection from heat and flames, yet Officer Cardenas, without due regard for his own safety, continued on.

Detention Officer Daniel Cardenas demonstrated a high degree of selflessness and bravery that is uncommon.

Howdy N.E.B.A folks. Considering I was a former member, I was hoping someone could offer advice. I am looking to bring a pet care facility to El Paso. Anybody here who knows me...."knows me" and knows my mission in life. My plans are to bring a Camp Bow-Wow location here.

My question is, what advice could you offer in terms of gathering investors as well as what did some of you do for start up capital for your business?
Thank you in advance.
Good morning NEBA peeps! I head up business development efforts with BPL Plasma at our El Paso Dyer location. As millions of people feel the economic impact from work closures, right now, donating plasma could provide some much-needed financial relief to families in need. When paychecks stop coming in or hours are cut, every dollar helps. Millions of people worldwide depend on a steady supply of plasma-based therapies — expectant mothers, hemophiliacs, immunosuppressed individuals and burn victims.

Currently, new donors can earn up to $400 a month in non-taxed income.

Additionally, we offer: Referral Bonuses and Monthly Frequency Bonuses

We also have physical copies of flyers, that I can drop off to your location if needed. We would only like to give back to the community and helping them earn some extra income during this time would be beneficial to anyone in need. If we could provide informational flyers to give to your patrons and or digital copies anything you could do we would appreciate that. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about eligibility.

BPL has joined an industry Alliance with six other leading companies to collect plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients (aka convalescent plasma), in an effort to develop a potential new therapeutic to fight the virus.

If you would like to help spread the word please do not hesitate to send me a PM and I will get our information out to you.

If not allowed, please forgive me and remove... I work as a screenwriter and am hosting a writer's retreat in El Paso this January. We will have writers and producers from some of your favorite tv shows and movies. As all of our facilitators and most of our attendees are from Los Angeles, I thought it would be great to bring in some El Paso businesses that have the ability to work with people nationwide during our social mixer on the first night, as well as the remaining three days.

I must limit this to the first ten interested vendors, however. Here is the link so you can read about the retreat. If, after you have looked it over, you are interested in presenting your product or service to some of Hollywood's leading writers and producers, as well as a few locals, you can sign up as a vendor by going to the REGISTRATION page.

Registration includes a free continental breakfast, as well as the lunch meal for you and up to two more staff members on both Friday and Saturday. You will receive a confirmation email and letter of instruction within 48 hours.
