Alright y'all, can we be real? 2020 has been a dumpster fire, and COVID is keeping us from doing anything to celebrate the holidays together as a Bandit battalion. So this year, we're trying something a little different...

This Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, there will be a Tank and a Bradley set up with holiday decorations under the 1-37 AR Desert Shade. Use the link below to sign up for a 10 minute time slot and come have a family picture taken. Use them on holiday cards (are we doing that this year???), post them to Facebook, use them however to share with friends and family scattered near and far. There will also be a little treat for all the kiddos. Masks will be required except for during pictures.

Announcement from the 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss Commanding General, Maj. Gen. Sean Bernabe:

Since early October, El Paso and surrounding communities have seen wide-spread transmission of COVID-19. We continue to watch these trends closely and stay in contact with City Leaders.

Earlier today, in a press release, the El Paso COVID-19 Task Force highlighted three sources of community spread: (1) visiting local stores; (2) eating at restaurants and bars; and (3) traveling to and from Mexico. The Mayor and other officials are taking action within El Paso to address these three areas.

Unfortunately, we continue to see steep increases in active cases on Fort Bliss. To help slow the spread of COVID-19 within the Fort Bliss Community, we must take aggressive action now.

In light of the most recent decisions of El Paso officials and the restrictions they put in place, I have made the decision to adjust our posture on Fort Bliss. These changes will ensure we protect the health of our Fort Bliss Community while also supporting and remaining in synch with our El Paso neighbors.

Today, I signed the Third Amended Fort Bliss Come to Work Safe, Live Safe Order. Here are a few key changes from the updated order:

(1) Curfew for Fort Bliss. Travel deemed non-mission essential will cease from 10 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. This curfew aligns exactly with the City of El Paso.

(2) Visitor Restrictions. The only authorized persons within residence are members of the household and immediate family members or those present for the purpose of conducting authorized essential activities. This restriction is in alignment with the City of El Paso.

(3) Teleworking. Unit commanders and/or supervisors are encouraged to utilize teleworking to reduce the number of personnel physically present in the work place on a daily basis.

(4) Cancellation of Trunk-or-treating events. Unit-sponsored trunk-or-treat events are no longer authorized. This cancellation also aligns with El Paso guidance. The MWR drive-thru event is the only remaining authorized Halloween event on Fort Bliss.

(5) Off-post dining and restaurant services. While within the greater El Paso area, service members are prohibited from sit-down dining or “dining-in” at off-post restaurants. Non-service members are highly encouraged to follow these instructions.

There are no additional changes to current facility hours and operations as the previous amended Come to Work Safe, Live Safe order specifies.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and compliance with these new measures. Again, it is imperative that we take aggressive action now to help flatten the curve within the Fort Bliss Community and in the greater El Paso area.

White Fox Families, late breaking information to send out:

For Tuesday, the Post will be closed due to inclement weather, only personnel designated Mission Critical will come in. Others are directed/strongly encouraged to stay off the roads. Unless directed otherwise, the installation will reopen on Wednesday 28 OCT.

Concerning COVID protection measures, the Command General has cancelled all unit trunk/treat activities which cancels our planned drive through trunk or treat. Soldiers will bring home candy bags for the children instead.

Fort Bliss will also follow the 2200 (10 pm) to 0500 (5 am) curfew and additional COVID protection directives from the city of El Paso.

Effective immediately by order of the 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss, Texas Commanding General, all Soldiers will wear masks while in uniform, both inside and outside buildings other than inside a Soldier's personal domicile or personal barracks room, regardless of the ability to socially distance themselves from others. This applies on and off-post. For Soldiers when in civilian attire, you are asked to wear a mask under those same conditions.

Soldiers will also wear the mask while in the Army's physical fitness uniform, unless you are conducting physical fitness training. Once Soldiers are done conducting PT, they will be required to immediately put the mask on and wear it.

To our Fort Bliss family members and community, while we cannot formally direct you to do so the same, we ask everyone to support and maintain this same level of protection to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. This requirement will remain in place until further notice.

COVID-19 UPDATE

COVID-19 UPDATE

COVID-19 UPDATE
Senior leadership at Fort Bliss is taking precautionary measures to prevent the contraction and spread of COVID-19 to protect the health of both the public and force, as well as maintain operational readiness.
Out of an abundance of caution, Soldiers returning from outside the continental U.S. from deployment or leave will be placed in quarantine for 14 days in designated areas on Fort Bliss. During the quarantine, Soldiers will not receive visitors, will be evaluated by medical professionals, and will be provided appropriate treatment if they present symptoms. There is no current requirement for quarantining Soldiers following domestic travel.
Leaves and passes are authorized locally within 100 miles of Fort Bliss at this time. All other domestic and international leaves and passes for Service members are currently unauthorized.
In addition, all official government-funded travel (temporary duty and permanent change of station) for Service members, DoD civilian personnel and DoD families is suspended through 11 May. Any exceptions may be granted by the Fort Bliss Senior Commander if the travel is determined to be mission-essential, necessary for humanitarian or medical reasons, or warranted due to extreme hardship. We are not restricting personal travel by family members, but encourage them to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines as they consider travel.
Fort Bliss remains in close coordination with our City of El Paso and state public health authorities to ensure the well-being of all.
We encourage everyone to follow the guidance issued by the CDC: washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, covering your mouth when you sneeze or cough, disinfecting frequently touched surfaces, maintaining social distancing, avoiding contact with those who have been sick, and avoiding large gatherings.
Leadership is closely monitoring the impact of COVID-19 on services for the installation community, to include clinics, schools, and child-care centers. We will continue to keep the community informed of the status of these programs and services.

Congratulations to SGT Gray!

Congratulations to Sgt. Zachary Gray of 40th Brigade Engineer Battalion for being named the #StrikeSoldier for March! Gray is a (91A) M-1 Abrams tank system maintainer. He was chosen because he is devoted to placing the mission first and taking care of his Soldiers. He and his team work tirelessly to ensure the battalion's vehicles were ready for DEFENDER EUROPE-20. He managed his teams time and talent to accomplish the work of several month in under two weeks. He consistently places the well-being of his Soldiers before that of his own. He routinely takes on additional work and tasks so that his Soldiers can recover. Gray committed to being a #IronSoldier for life by re-enlisted to serve his country for an additional six years.
