This week, the El Paso City Council kicked off the FY 2027 Budget Workshops and began reviewing the City Preliminary Budget.
We had opportunity to hear directly from all departments across the City of El Paso, Texas - Municipal Government and learn more about the work they do, the challenges they face, and the impact they have on our community.
City Council also approved a motion directing the City Manager to conduct a further citywide operational efficiency review as part of the FY2027 budget process.
The review will focus on materials and supplies, outside contracts, and professional service expenditures to identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining essential frontline services.
As families across El Paso continue to navigate rising costs, it is important that we carefully evaluate how taxpayer dollars are spent. Responsible budgeting means looking for efficiencies, strengthening oversight, and ensuring resources remain focused on the services residents rely on most.
“This review is an opportunity to see if there is something more we can bring back to the community, and share that the City staff gave it everything they had.” - Representative Boyar Trejo
Community input is an important part of this process. Join us at the District 4 FY2027 Budget Community Meeting and share your priorities for the upcoming budget.
