This week, the El Paso City Council kicked off the FY 2027 Budget Workshops and began reviewing the City Preliminary Budget.

We had opportunity to hear directly from all departments across the City of El Paso, Texas - Municipal Government and learn more about the work they do, the challenges they face, and the impact they have on our community.

City Council also approved a motion directing the City Manager to conduct a further citywide operational efficiency review as part of the FY2027 budget process.

The review will focus on materials and supplies, outside contracts, and professional service expenditures to identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining essential frontline services.

As families across El Paso continue to navigate rising costs, it is important that we carefully evaluate how taxpayer dollars are spent. Responsible budgeting means looking for efficiencies, strengthening oversight, and ensuring resources remain focused on the services residents rely on most.

“This review is an opportunity to see if there is something more we can bring back to the community, and share that the City staff gave it everything they had.” - Representative Boyar Trejo

Community input is an important part of this process. Join us at the District 4 FY2027 Budget Community Meeting and share your priorities for the upcoming budget.

Listening to our community helps shape the priorities we advance at City Hall.

El Paso City Council recently approved the installation of solar-powered streetlights and lighting at city parks as part of City of El Paso, Texas - Municipal Government ongoing efforts to modernize infrastructure throughout the community.

This investment will improve visibility, enhance safety, and expand the use of renewable energy while creating more welcoming spaces for residents to enjoy.

Did You Know?

Following community concerns regarding westbound traffic at the intersection of Gateway South Blvd and Sean Haggerty Dr. our office requested City of El Paso, Texas - Municipal Government Streets and Maintenance Department Traffic Management Center to conduct a full evaluation of signal operations.

This resulted in a 10 second timing increase of green light duration for the westbound approach on Gateway South Blvd.

This adjustment has successfully reduced vehicle queuing during peak traffic hours while minimizing impacts to the remaining traffic movements at the intersection.

El Paso Water will conduct a planned water outage on Thursday, May 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as part of an important project to replace aging water valves and improve system reliability.

The temporary outage will affect some neighborhoods along Cross Street between Deer Avenue and Oryx Circle.

To assist residents during this time, water tankers will be available at:

• Cross St. and Deer Ave.
• Cross St. and Quail Ave.

We understand outages can be inconvenient and appreciate your patience and understanding as these necessary improvements are completed to strengthen our community’s water infrastructure.

Thank you,
