Today I had the honor of being with the parents of Joseph Gomez as his dad gave the victim impact statement during sentencing. There will never be enough justice for his family or his partners but I pray that they start to have closure. Rest in Paradise Brother

Commissioner Stout presented a resolution that included “this inaction has also resulted in the total lack of accountability for the serious human rights abuses carried about by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agencies and local Law Enforcement against immigrants and communities of color” Always trying to drag our fine Law Enforcement Officer’s down. Thank you Commissioner Carlos Leon for standing up for the fine local men and women of Law Enforcement.

Sgt. Aguilar is exactly why I challenged the County’s Sick Leave Pool Policy last year. Sgt. Aguilar was going to still get paid up until December 15th of this year. As long as I’m here, I will continue to fight the good fight that our members deserve. Rest in paradise Sarge, thanks for the good times!

I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. One of the things I’m most thankful for is that I got to spend part of my day with the people that are eating at this table today! Thank you all for being away from your families and keeping us safe. It’s an honor to represent the men and women of the EPCSOA. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Dear El Paso County Sheriff’s Department,
Day in and day out you protect us all. You perform good deeds on the job and off without a spotlight shining on you. You tirelessly and silently work without complaints but with valor and courage.
Every morning you awaken knowing of your responsibility and accepting it without a single doubt of the dangers you will confront and trusting your coworkers and partners will act in the same honorable manor. Know that this does not go unseen or unheard. I SEE YOU AND I HEAR YOU!
I understand the commitment you have as I served in the military for 25 years. The minute to minute unknown decision making that could entail life or death both for you and someone else and the unending hours of work over a lifetime are an unheard of job description. Myself being close to the women and men of law enforcement, I have learned how seriously you take your job.
Today we don’t just face horrific tragedies like the unforgettable events of August 3rd, but now the invisible war against COVID 19. Again YOU are on the front lines defending us as if we were your Grandparents, Parents, brother, sister son or daughter. Facing the devastating losses of men, women and children to the virus’s wrath. But risking your own life and possibly that of your family to the virus. This courage is unmeasurable and faced by no one before. Suiting up as if going into a warzone is the daily norm for those entering the COVID 19 cell blocks. Each of you wear that gear fearlessly as a badge of courage. I have spoken to your superiors frequently to let them know how deeply I admire your courage.
As you risk your lives for us, there are some who want to shine an untrue light on you. I firmly reject this publicly, and will continue do so, because that does not truly reflect your work and who you are. I pray that their hearts be enlighten by God to your efforts.

We as a society must extend to you the resources needed to do your job and keep you safe. These times are very trying times. I vow to continue working towards building and strengthening the bonds between you and the County of El Paso.
President Barack Obama once said: “As you continue to defend us with quiet dignity, we proclaim loudly our appreciation for the acts of service you perform as part of your daily routine. When you see civilians at risk, you don’t see them as strangers. You see them as your own family, and you lay your life on the line for them. You put others’ safety before your own, and you remind us that loving our country means loving one another. Even when some protest you, you protect them. What is more professional than that? What is more patriotic? What is a prouder example of our most basic freedoms—to speech, to assembly, to life, and to liberty? And at the end of the day, you have a right to go home to your family, just like anybody else”.
I am proud to have the iconic Star on the Mountain lit in your honor through the month of November and I say a prayer for you every day!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families and thank you for your immeasurable service! God Bless America and I got you covered!!

Sincerely,

Commissioner Carl L. Robinson

Joe Moody said “we shouldn’t be asking our inmates to do this” but not once has he checked on the well being of our Officers who are there or any of you that are still out on the frontlines. Not after we lost one of our own, not after Walmart and certainly not during the pandemic!

Tonight, we had the pleasure of meeting several frontline SUPERHEROES at the University Medical Center.

For the past several months, these healthcare workers have come from around the nation to help El Paso battle COVID-19.

To show our appreciation for all the sacrifices they have made, our membership treated these amazing individuals by providing dinner and dessert.

We want every healthcare worker to know how much we appreciate everything they are doing for our community.

Each and every one of you are a huge inspiration. Thank you for your service and for caring for El Paso.

We want to challenge the Police and Firefighters Associations and any other organizations to do the same for these SUPERHEROES.

A special thanks to Deputy Eddie Placencia, Lt. Rafael Gallardo Jr. and Lt. Marvin Ryals.
