BUILD Fellows gathered for a retreat on Saturday, September 16th at the Student Recreation Center. They participated in multiple team building activities before heading outdoors to the high ropes course. These activities helped them bond and improve relationships among themselves. Drs. Lourdes Echegoyen and Marc Cox, primary investigators in charge of the BUILDing SCHOLARS Administrative Core, have both been awarded the President's Meritorious Service Award by UTEP president Heather Wilson, PhD.

Dr. Echegoyen, who also serves as director of the Campus Office of Undergraduate Research Initiatives, was nominated for the award by Dr. Laura O'Dell, Professor of Psychology and Associate Vice President for Research, for her commitment to undergraduate research and mentorship.

Dr. Cox, Department Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences, was nominated by Dr. Echegoyen for his efforts to grow and mentor faculty research and professional development.

Both will formally receive their awards from Dr. Wilson during the 2023 Convocation on Friday, August 25. Congratulations to both for the well deserved awards!
