Today marks the end of an era at the City of El Reno as we say goodbye to City Manager Matt Sandidge.
For the past nine years, Matt has helped guide our community through periods of growth, opportunity and challenge. After serving three years as Assistant City Manager and the last six years as City Manager, his leadership has left a lasting impact on El Reno.
Matt stepped into the City Manager role during one of the most difficult periods in recent history. Through the uncertainty of the pandemic and the economic challenges that followed, he remained focused on moving El Reno forward. Under his leadership, the city secured major investments and completed transformative projects, including the new Emergency Management Services Department, El Reno Fast Connect Broadband, the Downtown Streetscape Grant project, completion of the US-81 and Route 66 roundabout, the Mobility Hub grant project, numerous roadway, waterline, parks projects, the Sunset Trail, and drainage improvements throughout the community, and The award winning Filling Station visitor center.
While the projects are easy to see, those who worked alongside Matt know his greatest accomplishment was building a culture of teamwork and collaboration across every city department. His commitment to supporting employees and empowering staff helped make the City of El Reno a stronger organization and a better place to serve.
As Matt reflected in his farewell message, the success of El Reno is a testament to the dedicated employees who serve this community every day. We are grateful for his leadership, vision and unwavering belief in the people who make this city special.
On behalf of the City of El Reno staff, thank you, Matt, for your years of service, your steady leadership and your commitment to our community.
We wish you and your family nothing but success and happiness in the next chapter.
Thank you for everything.
