IT’S THE GREAT SHAKEOUT!

Today, the El Segundo Fire Department is joining millions of people around the world in The Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill at 10:15 am.

Earthquakes can happen at any time, so today is a great reminder to practice what to do when the shaking starts:

⬇️ DROP to your hands and knees.
🛡️ COVER your head and neck and get under a sturdy table or desk.
✋ HOLD ON until the shaking stops.

Take a few minutes today to practice with your family, coworkers, or classmates and make sure everyone knows what to do.

WEATHER UPDATE | HURRICANE RACHEL

The El Segundo Fire Department is sharing a weather update from the National Weather Service regarding Hurricane Rachel and possible weather conditions this weekend.

At this time, no significant impacts are expected for our area. However, residents may experience some changes in weather conditions, including:

Coastal Conditions: Some coastal flooding is possible through Sunday, with the greatest potential on Sunday, October 11.

Rain: Light to moderate rain may occur across Los Angeles from Saturday, October 10 through Tuesday, October 13.

Winds & Thunderstorms: There is a low possibility of stronger winds and thunderstorms.

Surf Conditions: Elevated surf and stronger rip currents are expected along the coast.

We will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as needed. As always, we encourage our community to stay weather-aware and enjoy the weekend safely.
