During National Police Week, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities. We also remember the families, friends, and fellow officers who carry their memory forward each and every day.

You may notice our officers wearing black mourning bands across their badges this week. These bands are a symbol of respect and remembrance for fallen law enforcement officers across our nation — a visible reminder that their sacrifice and service will never be forgotten.

We stand in solidarity as we honor those who gave their lives in the line of duty and reaffirm our commitment to never forget their legacy.

I would like to take a moment to extend my deepest gratitude to the dedicated men and women who serve throughout Grant County.

Public Safety is a team effort. While you often see our deputies out on patrol, our mission would be impossible without the professionals working behind the scenes. Today, we recognize every individual who wears the badge or supports the uniform across the country.
In honor of National Police Week, the Grant County Sheriff's Office invites all residents, businesses, and community organizations to join in a special tribute to law enforcement by "painting the town blue."

As visible show of support and appreciation, I encourage the community to decorate their homes, storefronts, and public spaces with blue lights, ribbons, and signage throughout the week. These efforts honors the dedidcation, courage, and sacrifice of the men and women in law enforcement-especially those who have made the ultimate sacrafice.
"Painting the town blue" is a simple but meaniful way for us to unite and appreciate our hard working officers in Grant County, and everywhere.

National Police Week was established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy to pay special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

I encourage all residents and businesses to display blue lights, hang banners, blue ribbons, wear blue or get creative in showing your appreciation throughout the week.

Lets unite as a community to show gratitude and honor those who serve.

February, March, and April were busy and rewarding months for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office!

In February, we proudly celebrated D.A.R.E. Graduations throughout our communities. Congratulations to all of our D.A.R.E. graduates! Throughout the program, students learned valuable life skills including how to make safe and responsible decisions, resist peer pressure, understand the dangers of drugs and alcohol, manage stress, and communicate effectively.

In March, our Sheriff and Deputies participated in several events across our communities. We connected with local families during Well Child events at area schools, sharing important safety information with young children on bike and pedestrian safety.

We also partnered with the Grant County Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) Coalition to host a distracted driving awareness event. Participants experienced the dangers of distracted driving firsthand using impairment goggles—an impactful reminder to stay focused behind the wheel.

In addition, the Grant County TRIAD joined forces with Pope County TRIAD to host the first-ever combined TRIAD Senior Expo at the Starbuck Community Center. TRIAD brings together law enforcement, seniors, and community organizations to promote safety, education, and connection. The event featured speakers, meals, vendors, and prizes, and was a great success. Thank you to everyone whose generous donations and support made this event possible.

Throughout April, we continued to stay engaged in our communities through ongoing outreach, partnerships, and public safety efforts.

Looking ahead, the Grant County TRIAD is already hard at work planning for the 2027 State TRIAD Conference, which will be held in Glenwood in Fall 2027.
