❗IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM AID PRESIDENT & CEO LORE BAKER❗
"I am brokenhearted to announce that due to a technical glitch, the AID Living Room in Aurora has not received funding to continue it’s good work. We will be closing the Living Room on June 30, 2026. There has been amazing support provided to persons experiencing a mental health crisis at any time of the day or night in the Aurora area over the past two and a half years by the dedicated AID Living Room Staff!

This will be a huge loss to the crisis system in the second largest city in the state of Illinois and to the citizens of our community.

We aren’t done fighting for this vital community resource! Please contact the Governor’s Office (Springfield and Chicago), our local state legislators: Representatives Barbara Hernandez, Maura Hirschauer and Matt Hanson as well as Senators Karina Villa and Linda Holmes (phone numbers are below) and let them know that the 2nd largest city in Illinois can’t lose the AID Living Room from the crisis service system!"

An important message from Refuge In Grief. ❤️

Wondering how to help a grieving friend? Let them be sad.⁣ Really. ⁣Sadness is a natural response to loss, hardship, and death.

The trick to successful grief support is to lean into your helplessness in the face of your friend’s pain. Your job, honestly, is to feel awkward and stay there anyway.

When someone talks to you about how hard this is, notice your impulse to jump in with advice. Then, DON'T DO IT.

Platitudes & unsolicited advice just tell the grieving person that you're not someone they can talk to about this.

When they say, "This sucks," say, "Yes, it does." It may seem to simple to help, but it's amazing how much acknowledgement helps.

It is an unfathomable relief to have a friend who will sit with you and let you feel exactly how you feel.⁣ ❤️‍🩹

As we commemorate Memorial Day, we hope everyone stays safe and celebrates with gratitude. Let us take a moment to remember and honor the sacrifices of those who have served and are no longer with us. They are the true purpose of this day.❤️🇺🇸

On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember our Veterans who are no longer among us. We wish you a safe holiday. 🇺🇸🌺

We appreciate the McCannon Family and Farm Friends, nfp for hosting our 'Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow' group. The book discussion on 'Opening to Grief: Finding Your Way From Loss to Peace' focused on mindfulness. Through a walking meditation and craft activity, participants reflected on the book's themes. The gathering was a lovely experience. Farm Friends, nfp
