Happy Firefighter Friday!! We’d like to introduce our new FM Tom Freeman!

🔥 1) Why did you join the fire service? How long have you been in the fire service/where else have you worked?

I wanted to be a firefighter since I was 7. I’ve been very fortunate to accomplish that dream. I began my career as a fire cadet, and worked my way though the ranks. Most recently I served with the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District and retired after a brief time with the Elmhurst Fire Department. I have been in the fire service for over 45 years.

🔥 2) What is your favorite part of working at ECFPD?

The enthusiasm and high level of professionalism at all levels. Many great things are happening here, and I know will carry on in the years to come as the fire district’s growth continues.

🔥 3) Favorite firehouse meal?

If you’ve eaten in firehouses you’ll come to realize anything they put in front of you is good food.

🔥 4) Fun fact:

II work on my days off with my wife in her home décor shop she owns in Batavia called Red Hive Market that she built from the ground up.

Thank you for all your years of dedication!

🚒🦆 Red Shift had a different kind of rescue call yesterday!

Not your typical cat-in-a-tree call — a group of ducklings managed to fall into a sewer drain and couldn’t get back out. After a little teamwork, the crew was able to get them all to safety!

Not exactly the type of rescue we train for every day, but we’ll take the win. All ducklings accounted for and back on their way. 👏🐥

🚑🔥 Firefighter Friday – EMS Week Edition 🔥🚑

This Firefighter Friday, we’re proud to recognize every single member of our department during National EMS Week.

Our firefighter/paramedics and EMTs play a critical role in delivering emergency medical care to our community every day. From lifesaving interventions on scene to comforting patients and families during difficult moments, EMS is truly a team effort.

Our crews answer the call 24/7 with professionalism, compassion, and dedication. The long hours, missed holidays, sleepless nights, and commitment to training never go unnoticed. We are incredibly grateful for the men and women who continue to serve with pride and put others before themselves.

To all of our members: thank you for your sacrifice, your service, and your commitment to caring for our community. We are proud to stand beside you today and every day.

Happy EMS Week from all of us at ECFPD. 🚑❤️🔥

Happy firefighter Friday!! We are proud to re introduce our newest full time FF/PM Jerry O’Brien. We cannot be more happy to have you back!

🔥 1) Why did you pick this career?

My dad was a first responder and I knew I wouldn't enjoy working behind a desk. I missed the comradery and physicality of sports so I gave the fire service a shot. 5 years later and it was everything I was looking for. I began my career with Elburn part time and moved to Hanover Park for just under a year before coming back to Elburn full time.

🔥 2) Favorite part of working at ECFPD?

My favorite part is getting to work with my friends every shift. Everyone takes care of each other and its a great environment to be in.

🔥 3) What is your favorite firehouse meal?

Macaroni and cheese. Bonus points if its smoked

🔥 4) Fun Fact:

I hit a single off Kevin Costner at the field of dreams when I was a kid

Thank you again for your dedication and service!
