🚨Mayday Alert for FF/PM Kelly Nessling🚨

For more than 20 years, Kelly Nessling has dedicated her life to serving others as a firefighter and paramedic, earning the respect of colleagues and the communities she has proudly served throughout DeKalb and Kane counties. She currently serves with the Genoa-Kingston Fire Protection District, where she is known for her compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to helping those in need. Throughout her career, Kelly has answered countless calls for help with courage, kindness, and selfless dedication. Beyond her work in the fire service, she is a devoted mother to two sons, ages 15 and 18, who are the center of her life. Her family, friends, and fellow first responders know her as someone who always puts others before herself.

Kelly is now facing one of the greatest challenges of her life as she battles ovarian cancer with the same strength and determination that have defined her career. Hoping to explore every possible treatment option, she recently traveled to Texas to seek a second opinion from specialists. While the trip did not bring the answers she had hoped for, it resulted in significant travel expenses for both Kelly and her mother. While she continues her fight, she remains focused on spending time with her family and pursuing the best care available. Let’s rally support for Kelly and her family as she pushes onward.

Congrats to FF/PM Jon Jon Olson who has officially completed his 1 year probation. Jon will wear badge number #74. Jon has already had huge impacts on our community, local and dept that will have lasting impacts. We are excited to see what else he can do and wish him a great career.

It is truly bittersweet when a Charter member retires. Today we had the distinct Honor to walkout Fire Marshal Lisa Martin-Schopp Badge number 23 with her husband Cptn Brian Schopp and their son Jax. Over the last 23 years she has helped lay the foundation for what our local is today. Personally and professionally impacts on our organization and in the community that we can only hope to emulate. We want to wish Lisa and her family nothing but good fortune, great health and happiness in her retirement.

Tonight we are Honored to swear in FF/PM Jeremiah O'Brien as our newest Full time brother. Jeremiah went through our academy and worked his way from part time to fulfilling his goal of being full time with us. Jeremiah will wear badge number 75 after completing his probationary year. We couldn't be more excited for him and his family. Congrats to a long successful career.
