Residential Structure Fire Investigation in Tuscumbia, Missouri
On the early morning of June 10, 2026, emergency responders were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 2000 block of Missouri Highway 52 near Tuscumbia, Missouri.
The Tuscumbia Fire Protection District, with assistance from surrounding fire departments and emergency response agencies, responded to the scene and worked to extinguish the fire. Following suppression efforts and completion of fire scene operations, a deceased individual was located within the residence.
The decedent has been presumptively identified as Thomas W. Snodgrass, 69, of Tuscumbia, Missouri.
The Missouri Division of Fire Safety responded to the scene and is actively investigating the cause and origin of the fire. At this time, there is no indication of suspicious circumstances surrounding either the fire or the death. Next of kin have been notified.
Motorists may have experienced significant traffic delays and roadway closures along Missouri Highway 52 in the Tuscumbia area during the morning hours as emergency personnel conducted fire suppression, investigation, and recovery operations. This incident was the cause of those closures and traffic disruptions.
The Miller County Coroner's Office was assisted by the Miller County Ambulance District, Miller County E 9-1-1, Miller County, Missouri Sheriff's Office, Tuscumbia Fire Protection District, and numerous surrounding fire departments that responded to provide mutual aid.
The Miller County Coroner's Office investigation remains ongoing pending final examination and investigative findings. Additional information will be released if appropriate.
