A COUPLE TORNADOES POSSIBLE. SCATTERED DAMAGING WINDS AND ISOLATED SIGNIFICANT GUSTS TO 80 MPH LIKELY. ISOLATED LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Northern Hardin County in central Iowa... Southeastern Franklin County in north central Iowa... Northwestern Grundy County in central Iowa... Southwestern Butler County in north central Iowa...

Until 1045 PM CDT.

At 1006 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Iowa Falls Municipal Airport, or 5 miles southwest of Iowa Falls, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Iowa Falls Airport gusted to 64 mph.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include... Iowa Falls, Eldora, Ackley, Aplington, Alden, Wellsburg, Steamboat Rock, Buckeye, Owasa, Pine Lake State Park, Iowa Falls Municipal Airport, Ackley Municipal Airport, and Eldora Municipal Airport.

...Elevated Fire Danger Through 6 PM Today...

WHAT...Strong winds from the northwest at 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph, dry surface vegetation and low relative humidity between 25 and 30 percent will lead to elevated fire danger.

WHERE...All areas north of Interstate 80 and all areas west of Interstate 35.

WHEN...Through 6 PM Today.

IMPACTS...Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly.

PREPAREDNESS AND PRECAUTIONARY ACTIONS...Burning is discouraged under these conditions. Also, take care to prevent the start of accidental fires when smoking or operating vehicles around dry vegetation.

[Monday Morning Update] The severe weather threat across Iowa has trended lower today, but there is still potential for scattered strong to severe storms, mainly in southeast Iowa this afternoon. Also, as showers depart this morning, expect some gusty winds across eastern Iowa.

More storms are on the way for Iowa! Severe storms become possible after dark Sunday, with the main concerns being damaging wind and large hail in western Iowa.

At 658 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Webster City to 6 miles south of Stanhope to Bouton, moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include... Ames, Boone, Webster City, Nevada, Iowa Falls, Story City, Huxley, Madrid, Ogden, Slater, Roland, Jewell Junction, Gilbert, Iowa State Center, Boone Speedway, Hubbard, Dayton, Cambridge, Alden, and Stratford.

This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 103 and 148.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
