🚒 AUGUST REPORT — ELDORADO FIRE & EMRs 🚑

August was a busy month for our members! We responded to several calls while continuing to train, maintain our equipment, and prepare for whatever emergency comes our way.

🚑 EMRs
• Mutual aid fire in Rosendale
• Potential tractor fire
• 2 medical calls
• 1 hour of training on domestic violence & child abuse

🔥 Fire Department
• Mutual aid fire in Rosendale
• Potential tractor fire
• Accident on Hwy 41
• Power lines down on Hass Road
• 2 hours & 15 minutes of truck inspections

📚 Training
Our members also completed:
• 3 hours of Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC) training hosted by the Town of Fond du Lac
• 2½ hours of Command & Strike Team Exercise

These trainings are an important part of keeping our members prepared, confident, and up to date on current procedures. We appreciate everyone who continues to give their time to serve our community! ❤️

You can turn this sucker off.

All the fire departments in the county need help. We’ve heard all the excuses. I can’t commit to (fill in the blank), I’m not always available, I’m too young/old, I don’t know anything about it. They are just excuses. We are all volunteers. We can when we can and we can’t when we can’t.

This is an incredible job you get paid for in ways that aren’t money. If you’ve ever thought about it, contact the volunteer department in your area. The hardest part, is walking through that station door the first time.

We all live in the communities we serve. How can you make a difference?

Encourage your kids to volunteer. Be an example of what it means to be a volunteer for your children. You all have seen our posts here. Our kids are at the station often. Helping. Washing trucks or sweeping floors. This summer we had a kiddo (ok--a bigger kid) from our community helping with traffic control. He got credit for catechism by helping us out.

Every fire department across the country needs help. Reach out today.

We show up for everyone else on their worst days—now it’s time to take care of ourselves and our mental health.

We’re getting back to the basics with The Debrief. Led by peers and supported by pros, it’s a dedicated space to process the job and ensure nobody carries the heavy stuff alone.

And just like that, July is over! 🍂

Our firefighters stayed busy throughout the month, responding to three field/vegetation fires, including one mutual aid call to Lamartine. We are grateful for the support of our neighboring departments whenever we request assistance, and we're always proud to respond when requested.

Firefighters also responded to a MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) call to Nekimi for a house fire on the day the tornadoes impacted our neighbors to the north.

Our EMRs responded to two medical calls and completed one hour of training to keep their skills sharp.

In preparation for our annual Eldorado Community Picnic, firefighters spent many hours getting the park ready for another successful event hosted by the Eldorado Firefighters and the Eldorado Lions Club.

Our EMRs brought back the annual Pie Contest to the picnic. Congratulations to Theresa Schultz, whose delicious Caramel Apple Pie earned 1st Place! 🥧🏆

To round out the month, firefighters completed 4.5 hours of truck inspections, ensuring our apparatus remains ready to respond whenever duty calls.

Tonight, Firefighters Michael Leichtfuss , Jd Pollom , and Lisa Marie attended Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC) Training hosted by the Town of Fond du Lac Fire Department.

A big thank you to Firefighter Dave Briggs with Firefighter TDC for presenting excellent classroom instruction followed by hands-on training. We learned about the many uses of a thermal imaging camera, the different camera settings, what to look for during fireground operations, and how TICs can improve firefighter safety and effectiveness.

We appreciate the opportunity to continue building our knowledge and skills so we can better serve the residents of the Town of Eldorado. Training never stops!
