The South Central Council of Governments, in partnership with the Department of Finance and Administration, is hosting a grants training informing local entities and municipalities of new grant opportunities funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Legislation (BIL), Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and CHIPs (Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) Act of 2022, to tacklesome of the biggest manufacturing and innovation challenges of our time.
There is another training scheduled for Wednesday, September 20th in Las Cruces, NM.

The South Central Council of Governments’ Senior Planner, Tiffany Goolsby, was instrumental in assisting the City of Anthony, New Mexico with acquiring the funds for this project through the Economic Development Administration. SCCOG Executive Director Jay Armijo, Representative Doreen Gallegos, Speaker of the House Javier Martinez, and Lt. Governor Howie Morales were among those who spoke at the event.

Arrowhead Center: New Mexico State University is launching a support program for technology startups in New Mexico, thanks to a $1.2 million grant awarded late last year by the Economic Development Administration of the United States Department of Commerce.

Scale Up New Mexico focuses on technology-based startups with the potential to be commercialized, and can promote equity in New Mexico’s economic landscape. Scale Up New Mexico provides startups with customized training and technical support; help to systematize the numerous business resources available in the service area; and help New Mexico in its work to diversify the economy to increase economic stability.

The Local Four-Year Plan for the Southwestern Area Workforce Development Board is in effect from PY20 through PY23 (July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2024). Two years into a local plan, modifications are required to update content such as, but not limited to, budgeting and labor market information. This year’s modifications have been made and now the draft is open to a 30-day public comment period.

The Southwestern Area Workforce Development Board seeks public comments on its proposed Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Four-Year Plan Modifications for 2022-2023.
