It looks like we may get another round of severe weather this afternoon!

Our last round of severe weather before a bout of quieter weather is on our doorstep for this afternoon. The storms could come in two waves, with the first wave forming as early as noon and the second wave following on its heels a few hours later. How the severe weather threat with the second wave of storms evolves will depend on whether the first wave of storms can disrupt these later storms. Nevertheless, severe weather is likely with both rounds of storms if they form. Large hail and stronger tornadoes area favored with the leading wave of storms, but tornadoes could still occur with the second storm wave in addition to damaging winds. These storms will occur when many afternoon activities will be ongoing and schools letting out, so stay weather aware today!

4/13 3:20 PM Update: A Tornado Watch is in effect for SE Minnesota, WC Wisconsin, and portions of NE Iowa and SW Wisconsin. Large hail and a few tornadoes look to be the most significant threats. Despite the large area of the tornado watch, the main tornado threat will be closer to I-90, along and south of the front. Stay weather aware this evening and make sure you have multiple ways to get warnings.

Make sure you have a working carbon monoxide detector in your home!

On Friday, January 30th, Emergicare and Eau Claire Fire were dispatched to a residence in the Town of Pleasant Valley for an EMS call. This turned into a far more serious incident that could have affected the health and safety of first responders as well as the residents.

We would like to stress the importance of having functioning smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors in your homes, and that you make sure all intakes and exhausts are clear of obstruction.

Thank you to Eau Claire Fire Rescue, Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office, and the Eau Claire Communications Center for your assistance.

At our monthly training last night, members worked on RIT training. RIT stands for Rapid Intervention Team, this team will go in and rescue downed, trapped or lost firefighters. This also doubled as great structure fire search and rescue training as well, having to navigate through and under some tight places!
